Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is better than Peter Schmeichel, claims the IFFHS. By Salvatore Landolina

Gianluigi Buffon is better than Peter Schmeichel, Iker Casillas and a host of other legendary goalkeepers, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

Members of the organisation voted for the best goalkeeper of the past 25 years, and Buffon came out on top with 197 votes to his name.

And while their top 10 list is open to debate, the Juventus man sits on the summit. It's also worthy to note that there are no English national goalkeepers in the list.

Here is the top 10 list, according to the IFFHS.

1: Gianluigi Buffon
2: Peter Schmeichel
3: Edwin van der Sar
4: Iker Casillas
5: Oliver Kahn.
6: Jose-Luis Chilavert
7: Andoni Zubizaretta
8: Walter Zenga
9: Claudio Taffarel
10: Michel Preud'Homme.

Buffon definitely the best, though I find Schmeichel's saves a lot more comical.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
