Massive shame for him.  And England.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I like Beckham as a player and like 99% of people with my chromosonal makeup I think he's gorgeous if a few ants short of a picnic but I bet Posh is kind of happy thinking seee i told you to stick around L.A

Must be a horrible feeling knowing that you are going to miss the WC

His left ruptured Achilles tendon, can't expected him to be back in the England Shirt.

He could still come back at league football after the urgent surgery but not the same. As long as his left ankle is stable, then his magic right foot cross/free kick can still do it. I wonder that he must have really done a lot of hard yards to get himself really for the England squad only to over work his body. He is known as a bit of a fitness fanatic.

If we really think he would be part of the set up, then it speaks volumes for how little chance we have got.

A player suffering a serious injury makes you happy?

Congratulations, you're a moron.

Three for me, and two for them.

Especially since hes worked so hard to get there. Paying himself out of LA to play in a better side to make the side also. He'll be gutted.

Allegedly

I am surprised by your comment.
I have watched a few of AC Milans games on ESPN over the last few weeks and Becks has been very good.
Sure he has not got the pace, but he is still one of the best players around.
If he were a Kiwi, he would be our best player.

We don't have many good players though.

Its very sad for him. I rather he either succeed or failed at getting to the World Cup by his efforts and hard work but not be taken away from him by an sneaky injury like that.

I hope that the Wellington Phoenix Club sends best wishes for his recovery. If it wasn't for him and the LA Galaxy team, the increase interest in the Wellington Phoenix Club would have be much slower in the beginning. But it showcase the club and football on TV and the momentum has been good for the sport.

But I guess, it's up to Tony P etc to decide that.

It's such a shame, and to the guy at tvnz who wrote the article saying Beckham had passed it anyway, has he not seen an AC Milan game, Becks was performing very well in that side and would have offered a lot to England at the world cup.

Looks likely. Capello on Beckham:
"We invited him to stay with us in Rustenberg but we have to check his situation physically with his doctor. If he stays with us we're happy because he respects the players and the players respect him, he's good in the dressing room."
