anyone on here watching this?  i'm at work so just following at fifa.com, kind of want to see the dutch in the next round, but also kind of going for the Group F reprasentatives!!

Yeah, watching. Dutch seem the same: Look good in possession, but a few wayward passes and van Persie still wasting good chances.

Stats seem to favour the dutch only slightly (goals and shots on target excluded!!) so a good showing from our group F counterparts?

Good win for the Dutch, Robben looking good, Kuyt also good. Conceded a late late penalty but were definitely the better team.

Late penalty cost me bigtime on fantasy.

Yeah that penalty was a joke, a bit sad to see Slovakia result to dives to get a consolation goal. That'd played good honest football all tourny prior to that. The Dutch were definitely the better team but Slovakia gave a good showing. I thought they had a few calls here and there go against them - but I think the underdogs have been often been hard done by.

I think the strength of the Netherland's midfield shows the difference between them and other European teams who have done poorly. A good midfield makes life much easier for strikers, Kuyt has had much better ball than Rooney for example, which is the opposite to what they get at their clubs.

Two points.

1.  WTF FIFA ?  The ref in this destroyed the Germany vs Serbia game with his incompetence and you gace him another game ?  He wasn't bad here but I thought 1 sh*t performance would get you archered.

2.  10 Orange shirts behind the ball ?  Total Bus Parking...

The Dutch still plodding along - far from impressive football they've been renowned for, but then again that football hasn't really won them anything (well, barring EURO 88). Maybe this is a good thing for them.

I just hope they can give Brazil a good game on Friday night.

Agree about the ref. He made me fairly nervous with some of his odd calls. Namely when he gave Robben a yellow for "deliberate" handball which on it's own wasn't that bad but compared to one of the Slovak's who went unpunished for a blatant handball, Robben's seamed much less deliberate. Also, who saw the Slovak player decline the use of the stretcher the same way Ryan Nelsen did (yellow card v Italy?) and it wasn't even blinked at?

In regards to 'parking the bus', it hasn't been uncommon in this world cup to see that. Even the Brazilian's were getting 7/8/9 players in behind the ball at times and it worked very well for them. Can't say the same about the Dutch, there were a few shaky moments from our defence where Slovakia could have easily scored later in the game and we had plenty of numbers back.

All in all I think we can beat Brazil but we have a few players under-performing (RVP has been rubbish) who will need to step up. We have good young players on the bench which is encouraging if you compare to other squads in the tournament. We'll need to employ some better tactics for Brazil too. They are probably the better athletes so we'll need to out-think them.

Please Netherlands, beat Brazil. I want someone new to win the World Cup. That is all.
