That was an even worse performance than in the USA game. England have gone backwards.

If Slovenia hold them they're gone

Three for me, and two for them.

The Algerian coach said that they played for Algeria, the Arab world and for Africa....

I was much amused by the Sky commentator calling the Algerian keeper Bolhi as his name is M'Bolhi ... What next... Steven Errard??
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Awful performance, a squad that looks clueless and out of shape. Terrible when you think Carra was probably the best player for England covering his position and Johnson's.

I knew our squad was poor, but friggin hell.

Frustrating game. Their centrebacks were solid.

With their clash against England looming on Friday, under-dogs Algeria have watched the film "Battle of Algiers", a graphic account of Algeria's bloody struggle for independence from French colonial rule.

"I had never seen it before. It was very moving, and it was very moving to spend the time together. This is the kind of thing we need to do to feel together," 26-year-old midfielder Hassan Yebda told reporters.
Maybe it played a part?   And their national anthem is...   well....
We are soldiers in revolt for truth
And we have fought for our independence.
When we spoke, none listened to us,
So we have taken the noise of gunpowder as our rhythm
And the sound of machine guns as our melody,
We are resolved that Algeria shall live -
So be our witness -be our witness -be our witness!

That's because the Algerians were so rubbish they couldn't get anywhere near the goal.

Carra - great player in his day, never had pace, but did "ok" today, because he had to cover Johnson, but he's about 2 years past his best.

You should in no way have two players like Terry and Carra as a pair. Poor getting the ball out, both slow Terry overrated sh*te.

Anyone who knows what a goal looks like and has pace will kill us. I'm HOPING we have just forgotten how to play football against anyone outside Europe, "frustrating" is not the word we were f*cking awful.

If we go out I won't be that upset as the squad is very poor anyhows. Would Heskey get anywhere near an England team if they had a Shearer or a Lineker in the Squad? Would SWP or Lennon? James, Green if Clemence or Shilton were around? The players are terrible.

Probably the worst squad that we have had since Taylor in charge, but at least they gave a sh*t.

Glad I didn't see this game, England is underperforming like Italy, and France. I can see why the English, Australians and some others are rooting for the All Whites at the moment since their own teams are so disfunctional.

Upsets results against to England, France, Italy, Germany and Spain are such a LOL this tournament. Crikey, these countries have the five top-rated football leagues in the world. Their league rating might drop down a tad after this tournament, if any don't get to the quarter finals.

Does this mean that football has truly become more global at the top than ever?

I reckon so, and have thought so for a few years now. It used to be between half a dozen teams in Europe and two from South America, now anyone has a chance of turning over another team, that's why I think the English press have shown how foolish they were in suggesting the NZ squad was the worst in the finals for years.

No, one of the worst games of the tournament so far. Only worth watching if you enjoy seeing England suffer.

I thought England looked ponderous and laboured vs the USA, but I think the word I need for this game is "limited". I think they created one chance inside the box, and Algeria restricted them to almost nothing but long shots from outside the penalty area. Don't recall Algeria creating anything at all.

At this stage, England look nothing like the top-class side the Mail and the Mirror would have you believe they are.

On the plus side, at the least the ref had a decent game, after the abysmal efforts in the evening's early games.

People complain about Tony Lochhead but I was amazed how many unforced errors Glen Johnson made at right back. Terrible game in a typically awful England WC performance.
