And England almost concede, Terry throwing himself around to block shots, but what was Upson doing standing around.

Cole for Rooney... hmm. Fair enough. He's been average.

England were dominant, but they've got to put away their chances. I don't see them getting far, particularly if they get Germany. I hope it goes to penalties if they do!

the reason the are struggling is Rooney surely he will start to put the chances away sooner or later...
thats the scary thing, they got this far without him (he done bugger all) if he fires they could do some damage

All the talk pre cup was that Rooney was everything for England, but he has been Englands worst player (bar Green) so far in this World Cup. Something seems to be off though about him, he doesn't seem to have the 'fire' he usually has

That can come down to a lot of things. Domestically hes been playing under the same manager at the same park in the same competition, things seem to flow nicely for him their. And even qualifying, its the same old countries they face time and time again.

But at the WC its a foreign environment (altitude, even the vuvuzelas maybe?), a different manager, a different ball (im willing to bet this is a big one, especially for a striker relying on that final strike), and just different nations with different players and different styles than what he might be used to.

And then theres the stress he creates for himself. Lets face it, hes a hot head. Who knows, he might even be crying himself to sleep every night in SA?

Well, pretty much everyone i would assume.

If their path ends up being Germany then Argentina

Three for me, and two for them.

very stoked with the win but geez, should have made it a bit more comfortable with the possession they had. didnt think rooney coming off was a great idea, looked pretty toothless in attack after that. milner did very well, crossing for the most part was superb

England must be kicking themselves - Germany next, and if they manage that, probably the Argies.

On the other hand, USA, Ghana, Uruguay or South Korea will be one of the semifinalists.

Yeah Germany really needed to be smart and concede an injury time equaliser in that game.

Allegedly

^ This. I think they can, and probably will (unfortunately), beat Germany. Argentina? Not so much.

Despite my passionate hatred of Uruguay, I've got them in my work sweepstake.

Just relieved they have got through. Thank you Defoe!

Didn't watch last night - needed sleep for taday and didn't want to jinx the team.

though if they had done that they'd have looked like they were running scared of England, and everyone would have said it was Gijon 82 all over again.  i agree it might have been smart given the teams in the other side of the draw, but fortunately this German side doesn't seem to be as cynical as their of the 1980s.

You think Ghana would be so eager to score this equaliser? I think they were happy with having USA as next opponents.

Hope for a cracking game England vs Germany.
