I hope the ref feels like a twat. I hate refs who draw cards for these types of things without actually talking to the players first, or just rushing to pull their card out without taking a little extra time to form a decision.

Depends how it all looked, what was the situation and such to judge the ref. Still, I think the ref is in the right mess right now. It was some lower league football, so most probably it was some young guy learning to be a ref or just a guy treating it like a hobby.

As a player, Id much prefer a referee to come over to me and breifly explain what i did wrong, and why im being booked, and then be booked. It gives the ref and player enough time to gather their thoughts, and for the player to apologise and/or explain.

A little communication goes a long way.
