I'm currently in La Paz, Bolivia, and I managed to pick up tickets to the Bolivia v Argentina match tomorrow. Not a heap of point to this post, but I had to brag!

The best thing about it was that the tickets were the equivalent of $NZ28 or so, for a world cup qualifier! That's the same as a Phoenix match! The cheapest tickets were more like $NZ20...

Hey James, that's awesome!!!! I'm a bit jealous I have to say, Argentina being my second team after NZ ;) Hope you have a great time, let us know how the atmosphere is??? I'll look for a Nix supporter in the crowd :P

Wow, depressing. Bolivia 6 - 1 Argentina. In fact the Argies looked like the Nix on a bad day, massive holes in defence!  Can't even blame it all on the altitude and the stupid red card against Di Maria, very sucky.

Well must be fun to be in Bolivia tho, what a party for them

Unbelievable game. Kind of disapointed because Argentina is my second favourite national team after NZ as well... but what a match to be at. Great atmosphere, packed house, a few flares in the crowd, and an insane result.

Bolivia was up 4-1 when Argentina got the red card so Argentina can't use that as an excuse. I'm sure the altitude made a difference... but a thrashing by five goals is inexcusable.

Bolivia has some weird chants. Perhaps the corniest is one which goes as follows:

One end of the pitch chants

Bo bo bo...

then the fans on both sides chant

Li Li Li...

then fans at the other end chant...

Via via via...

Then all together

Viva Bolivia!

Pretty impressive when they have the stadium packed out.. but can't see anything like that working at the Nix, even if we wanted it to.

The other thing that makes the result so weird is that:

Venezuala lost to Argentina 4-0 a few days ago, then beat Columbia 2-0 this round.
Bolivia lost to Columbia 2-0 a few days ago, then smashed Argentina 6-1.

I guess that's one of the things that makes football so great. It can be almost impossible to pick the result sometimes.
