YOUR football team?

Be it the 'Nix, the Mighty Liverpool, or any other team. Thought it might be fun to find out just how much people love (or hate) football teams.

I think that football fans are pretty unique in their devotion, so who's your team, how did they become your team and why do ya love 'em?

I love Arsenal to the point where it almost feels like a relationship. There's times i couldn't be happier with them but also times where they make me feel like tearing my hair out. I can't really imagine what my life would be like now if i wasn't a gooner tbh.

Three for me, and two for them.

My wife understands my relationship with the Gunners. She doesnt like it, but she understands it. I watch every live game, regardless of time and place - I always find a way -even if it isnt televised. Earlier this year at the arsenal vs Man u game in the league i saw a banner from a Man U supporter that just said -
"United - Kids- Work- Wife"
" in that order "

that pretty much sums it up.

Partick Thistle fan since I was 10 years old. Was taken to the 1971 League Cup final by my Celtic supporting Uncles and watched Thistle beating the Celtic team, who had been in the European Cup Final the season before, 4 - 1.  Hooked ever since, season ticket holder for 20 years. When I moved to London I used to travel up to Glasgow every 2 weeks to see them. Even my Kiwi wife has been taken along to see them, and she thoroughly enjoyed it!

One of the worst periods of my life was when we nearly went bust a few years back and had to launch a campaign to keep us alive.

I even schedule any trips back home to be in the middle of the Scottish winter so I can get some games in while I'm there.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I worked with a couple of lads from Stirling, who used to talk about "plastic whistle" am i correct in thinking that is a pseudonym for Partick?

I first went to Boothferry Park when we went back to England when I was 11. I couldn't believe the atmosphere!!

Went to every home game but 1 (stupid scout camp!) in the 2 years we were back in England (went to watch the reserves and youth team too).

Went back and saw City play 3 times when I was 18 - and haven't seen them live since then. Planning to go back when City make the Prem, though my grandad died waiting for that to happen and my 71 year old dad is still waiting.

And I guess if they don't make it up in the second century of the club's existence I'll go back and watch them again - in whatever division - before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Shame it won't be at Boothferry Park.

To be honest supporting a team like spurs is a love/hate thing. Sometimes I love them, sometimes they frustrate the hell out of me. But supporting them is a hereditary disease. Ain't nothing I can do about it.

First taken to the Bridge in 69 and saw us beat Man City 3-1.  Was hooked from that point on.  They were the nearest club to where we lived in Surrey and once I was old enough to go on my own that was it.  My best record was 50 games out of 57 one season but I didn't miss a home game for many years.

My last year in the UK was 97.  All I had ever wanted was to be at Wembely and see us win the FA Cup.  Never thought we would EVER win the league again.  Anyway, I knew it was our year from the third round and the 97 final was the last game I saw before moving to NZ.  Best day of my life without a doubt.  Wedding and kids births run it close but....

I love my team (Botafogo of Rio de Janeiro) so much I queued for 9 hours in 35 degree heat to buy a ticket to the Inauguration game of their new stadium. Everyone had two cans of milk powder to trade for two tickets as part of a promotion. The tickets sold out and I ewas left ticketless until a 16 year old came up to me and offered me a ticket to buy for a good price!! I couldnt say no after all that effort.

For the record Botafogo won the game!!!

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.
