Insurance for players

Anyone know much about how this works?

I believe if the player gets injured then the club can claim his wages from the insurance policy.

I think it is standard in the A-League.

I would have thought the odds of a player being injured were reasonably high though; am curious why any company would insure for this.

Would a club have to pay more for a player with a proven history of injuries?

Thanks for that.  Any coincidence that Ifill is now likely out with a ruptured Achilles tendon?
