An incident from the latest round of 1. HNL from the weekend - has caused quite a bit of heated discussion on Croatian forums.

If your a defender in the box, keep your arms down.  Penalty or not, the defender put himself in a position where a penalty was a viable decision.

Ok, here's one -

Player attempts clearance near half-way, shanks off his boot towards his own 'keeper.

With attackers bearing down, 'keeper looks to referee with both hands in the air and eyebrows raised.

Referee stares back, motionless.

'keeper picks up ball, because attackers are now too close for a kick.

Referee blows for an indirect free kick.

Very, very disappointed...

I wouldn't give a penalty for that.  The player went down like a house of cards from such a soft push.  It's frustrating when referee's try to turn the game into a little girls sport by giving free-kicks for the slightest contact.

Sounds like the keeper was as sure as the referee was,  that it was a ball directly played to the keeper. ;)

No - from the way you've described it, it doesn't sound like an intentional pass to the keeper - ref on the day might have seen it differently though.
