Is there any stupider way of getting a yellow card than taking your shirt of while celebrating a goal? I've just watched the EPL highlights and Kieran Richardson got a yellow for just that.
Yes, the rule is a stupid one. But it's a rule...taking your shirt off = a booking. Everyone knows that. So why do it?
If I was a manager and someone in my team got booked for that, I would fine them heavily. It's not like getting a yellow for a poorly timed challenge, or deliberate handball. It's not even like dissent, because we all know that tempers flare in the heat of the moment. It's a conscious decision to remove your shirt and it's got nothing at all to do with the game.
Surely the impact must be felt later with suspensions for multiple yellows, or even worse, a second yellow in the same game leading to a sending-off.
Why on earth do players take their shirts off when they know they'll be booked? It just strikes me as the height of absolute stupidity.
Rant over.

I suspect your heat of the moment excuse for dissent, can also apply to removing your shirt in celebration, but yes...ive never understood why they do it either.
Absolutely hate the rule though
