My sources tell me that Mike Hester and his team including Jan Hintz and a tongan lad whose name escapes me has been appointed to the Pool B game between game between Greece and South Korea.
As well this Peter O'leary and Brent Best have been appointed as fourth (reserve ref) and fifth officials (reserve ar) respectively in the game between Slovenia and Algeria.
As I say nothing official but its great news if it comes through as correct

Yep, good stuff. Presumably if they do a good job they have a chance of getting given some later games too (in the last few WCs the officials for the knockout stages have been chosen based on their performance in group matches, I assume it's the same this time too).

Not yet but I imagine it won't be too far away, the refs involved got told overnight nz time and they announced the ubekistani who is refereeing the opening game
