Lets get the Soccer out of the Socceroos

On another general sports forum the following thread is being discussed there are the normal trols that make there way on but some interesting ideas and passion being discussed.

Want to join in then feel three an NZ feel would be nice.

It really disheartens me every time I hear people call football, soccer � even more so when it�s in the media.

The FFA have tried to rectify this by being called the Football Federation Australia and having the domestic competition being called A-League Football.

But our most popular and most marketable team, the SOCCERoos, still has the foul stench of Soccer Australia all over it.

I think in order for us to make serious strides we really need to change the name of the Socceroos to something else. What to, I�m not sure, but it definitely shouldn�t have �soccer� in it.

It really disheartens me when people expend energy by getting frustrated with so insignificant an issue.

Not if they were called Crapweeds....

I started a thread on this back in December "It's football stupid".
I've now decided to get a life.

As far as I'm concerned it is FOOTBALL - however if anyone in NZ / Oz talks about the "S" word - that is fine by me. ANY talk about the beautiful game is great

Having said that - I still do cringe when I hear the S word...

Socceroos aren't even real animals

The S word is a terrible. It's even worse hearing League and Rugby refered to as Football. The sports were distinguished 2 centuries ago -  it's just like a lot of things these days, laziness prevails and correctness is belittled by those that can't be bothered getting it right.
