Liam Jordan (IF Brommapojkarna | Sweden)
No he can't. He wasn't eligible for NZ when he represented SA at youth competitive level. (he wasn't born here, doesn't have any NZ heritage & didn't live here for 5 years after age of 18)
But we can ask for an exemption : )

Of course your right there but I think as others have said, we can submit for an exemption. Looking at you now NZF.

Even if we could - does he actually want to play for NZ?
I'd heard that he wanted to emulate his father by making it into the South African team

Bang on. He wants to represent SA.
Because he's still a kiwi even if he plays for the wrong team.
My only hope is he gets tired of SA football and decides that his future lays elsewhere.

If you looked down from your high horse you would realise the post I was replying to asked if he wanted to represent NZ. So no, not everyone "knew all that".
Apparently he has transferred to Sporting CP B in the Portuguese second division.
Yes according to Soccerway is now at Sporting CP II, under his South African flag. This is team Boyd's side Vitoria II beat on the weekend

Few South Africans playing in Portugal. Boyd has at least 3 at his club
Maybe it's the Nando's Chicken connection
is he still eligible for NZ? If so I'd like to see Hudson try and motivate him to play in Russia next year. Has to be an improvement over half of his questionable squad selections.

For the senior team already? Steady on there - maybe try him in the U20s first (assuming he is eligible)
He'd be a better pick than Lewis

Base on what? did you see him play?
He's never going to play for NZ fellas so pointless arguing...I spoke to Keryn before he left NZ and asked him who Liam would play for if he had to make a choice and he said Bafana Bafana. And I've watched him play at Wits and the kid is by far better than Lewis, Dyer and quite a few others.
He's not eligible. He wasn't eligible when he played for SA youth in WCQ so he can't ever play for NZ.
He still hasn't signed up for them yet so get him in there.
Also we offer access to junior World Cups, something SA don't make. So we have a couple huge carrots to offer him.
Also no smart man wants to stay in SA for too long.
His father wanted him to succeed in SA.
Right there.

A quite remarkable comment if ever i have seen one.

Since when has he been a Kiwi. Born in SA to Southern African parents, lived in NZ for a very short time.
Please inform as I am interested.

Not so short a time considering his age. Came with his mother & father about 10 years ago or earlier - 2003? - (Keryn hoping to play A-League I believe, but Rickie didn't want him). So he's lived here about half his life. Playing for Mt Albert Grammar (under Fallon I think) was his last NZ footballing gig.
I think he lived in NZ longer then certain other people who have worn the Fern at various levels (AWs).
Looks like he is playing 2nd tier in Denmark now? https://www.transfermarkt.com/liam-jordan/profil/spieler/308117

On loan?
Big loss for Helsingør, given the stage of their current season. Fantastic move for Liam though and best of luck to him.
Is it to late for us to try and coax him back to play for us? 🤔
No I think he’s cap tied to South Africa. Played some competitive games for Bafana Bafana a few years ago. Sort of a B grade comp of teams around the lower African region from memory. Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland and the like. COSAFA Cup
Pretty sure that’s right https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2019/06/07/africa/cosafa-cup/south-africa/malawi/3015394/
Bugger for him if cap tied as he seems nowhere the Sth Africa team now at age 24
Anyway his new deal gives some hope to McCowatt he can score a top flight Scandi deal somewhere. Though Jordan has been far more a standout this season for Helsingor than his old mate from the North Shore
Was the captain of their youth team, but then never got a look in again?
If you scroll to the top of the page, it sounds like he got NZ Citizenship but that was after playing Age Group games for SA, which ruled him out back then.
Otherwise why is the Perth lad allowed to swap after playing u17.

Keegan Jelacic was eligible for both NZ and Aussie before he played for the NZ u17s. Liam Jordan wasn't eligible for NZ when he played for SA at Age Group level according to a previous poster, which in the past would rule him out (see Vinnie Lia). I'm not sure if that rules him out under the new rules tho.
