Hey all, sorry if posted already.
I heard devlin on Livesport this morning saying that the man of the match awards were made by voting online.
So I checked FIFA.com. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/awards/manofthematch/index.html
Surprised that there wasn't a concerted effort by us lot to vote in an All white for our games?
Explains the fact the All whites never got FIFA MOM awards? De Rossi v Italy prime example...

Well there are a lot more Italians than New Zealanders.
Stoopid way to do it. Guess it creates hits on their website though.

Was Ronaldo MOM for every Portugal game?

It's a crap system. Country with the highest population gets Man of the Match. Well done, Fifa, you muppets.

Xavi got Man of the Match against Germany. Germany has twice the population of Spain.
Three for me, and two for them.

It would have been hard for Germans to justify voting for any of their players. I think the votes for de Rossi against us were "f**k you" votes from bitter Italians!

I think you had to vote up until the last 10 mins of the game so a country with more people watching at home (rather than at fan sites or the pub) & with a bigger general populance with home internet access wd have an advantage. so possibly countries like Brazil or Nigeria whilst having huge fan bases might not have the votes necessary

You'd find that the highest percentage of voters would've been teens and (dear I say it...) Asians. Hence favourites like Ronaldo, Brazil, Spain etc would have advantages
