This is borderline gibberish. This site is written by AI for sure.

But in any case, are you no longer depressed by the signing? :D

Al-Taay has got his Iraqi passport.

So perhaps a national team call up is looking more and more likely.

Good on him too, he's been solid for us so far this season. I guess we might see him in the squad from the next international window then?

People are clearly keeping an eye on his progress here in Wellington. Playing well in a good team is probably helping his cause no end either. 😉

Iraq have been on the fringes of WC qualifying for both Russia 2018 (5th in their pool) & Qatar 2022 (4th in their pool). That's when 1st & 2nd in the pool (3rd Round qualifying) were automatic qualifiers and 3rd went into the Playoffs. Socceroos were 3rd in their pool in both those campaigns, and got through via the Playoffs.

With an expanded 48 team WC, and AFC getting 8.5 spots up from 4.5 spots, Iraq should be right in the mix.

He is his own player but definitely get Devlin vibes from him. An often unsung hero that never stops working. Love these characters in the team and it is possibly one of the biggest things we've been missing since Devlin left.

How long is his contract locked down for?

Because before the finals a bandwaggoner friend asked if there was any player to watch out for. And I said Kosta and Rufer, but that the team was really even and almost any of the players could turn on something magic and match winning and certainly I remember some big performances from this bloke. Maybe an inch perfect cross for Kraev and any number of presses and times he won the ball.

Congrats Mohammed Al-Taay!

Really happy for him.

Would be great to see Pennington get an Aussie call up in the future and Kraev return to international football.

Iraq are going well in Group B of the AFC Third round, one of three sides (along with Jordan and South Korea) sitting on four points at the top of the six team group:

You'd think that the current Middle East conflict might affect the viability of the Iraq home game vs. Palestine going ahead in Basra, Iraq next week. As well as Al-Taay's ability to fly in for the game.
