Hard to go past Paston. But top performances from Reid, SMeltz and Bertos and pretty much the whole team. 1-1 baby!

Nelsen.

Three for me, and two for them.

Honourable mention to Tommy Smith. Unlucky with the penalty decision, threw himself around and defended like a champion. Well done mate.

I cant really pick anyone out, but Pasty saved so many times, he was fierce in defending his goal, and will definitely be there against Paraguay

Everyone played out of their skin and I don't even think the most critical could find a player who did not perform - no one comes to mind. Man of the match just has to be Paston. He was flawless and made one of the finest saves I've ever seen. Considering the amount of shots on goal, I think it has to be one of the best games by a keeper ever. Should have been a clean sheet too. Paston is God.

Everyone was magnificent, but I'm so happy for Paston. I'm sure a lot of us were worried that he was the weak link and that he might stuff up horribly but he had the game of his life and made saves I honestly didn't think he was capable of. Fantastic!

Paston was amazing, as was Nelsen. Both were f**king immense at the back. Smeltz held the ball up like a champion and I actually think Bertos looked promising.

Nellie needed more votes, him and Paston were suberb, so were Reid and Smith for helping hold out thos waves of attack. Ivan showed his class on occasion, Elliott worked his bollocks off, and the four strikers did their jobs against some pitiful Italian acting.
You know we belong together...

Bertos had his moments as did most of the team,Vicelich would have got my vote if that superb shot had went in but at the end of the day(or at the beginning of it)my vote goes to Paston after the wobbles of the last game he really pulled it out the of  bag tonight!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

The Pas-tron was an absolute stopping machine today, and he did so well under the crosses as well, an amazing game from him

Paston was amazing. The number of long shots that squeezed through between the defence, which is difficult for keepers to see, Paston was there to stop it. He saw it and did not hesitate to stop hard kicking shots.

definitely Paston

Have to say Paston but can't go past mentioning Nelson and Elliot who are both consistently good - where would we be without them.

As the under-dog if every player plays well, you give yourself a chance - which is my reflection of this mornings game.

Fuck this stupid game

No doubt Paston is a man for the big occassion. Getting praise in all the papers around the world and full deserving of it

Paston was great.  He must have been so thankful when the ball bounced back out off the upright as that shot went all over the place.  I'd probably have given up and lain down had I seen a shot like that coming at me.  Nelsen, too, was immense.  When he took one on the right ball to keep the shot out was impressive.  Lucky he already has 1 kid, plus another on the way.

We should go all out against the Paraguayans.  Imagine if we won it.  We'd be through.  I shouldn't think about it as I don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

I went for Paston but so, so hard to single anyone out. Heroes, all 14 of them, and those who didn't get on the pitch too.

Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

Surely this was the one MOM thread for me to create???

No brainer really. However Smeltz and Nelsen were very impressive for me and its just Paston was absolute quality today. Will be interesting to see what happens with Elliott, Smith, Reid and Smeltz transfer wise after this WC.

Paston with Nelsen and Elliot close behind.

A great day for the "spine". Paston, Nelsen, Elliot and Smeltz all superb. MoM a toss-up between Paston and Nelsen, but equally Elliot superb, and Smeltz had one of his best days in an All White shirt. Not just his goal but he showed considerable poise on the ball.

Struggled to name a player who was not up to their particular mark. What more can you ask?

I know, I know, its serious!

Don't forget he got Jabulani'd for the penalty as well. (At least that's why I think he went the wrong way)
Top game for Paston.

Smeltzy ran his ass off and of course got the goal. He deserves a contract in Europe.

It was mostly to be expected from the other 3, but I think the way Smeltz has stood up and really been part of the leadership group on the field is great. He's become a senior player for us, often a playmaker, never giving up.

The others have been superb and it is great to see Smeltz step up for us like this.
