North Korea looked decent. In that first half they really competed with Brazil. Showed all of the people who were writing them off and talking about them as if they were a laughing stock. I mean, in qualifying they did finish ranked ahead of the likes of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

They'll have every chance to get points in their next two games.

A lot of people seem to literally believe exaggerated stories of North Korean life spread by American media, known for trying to make whoever is the enemy of the moment sound like Hitler x 1000. The DPRK is a pretty sh*t-tacular place run by a demented military clique, but I really doubt there will be any defections. Patriotism runs pretty deep.

Probably true. I think they ban mobile phones in North Korea. Although this may of changed recently for select citizens but not 100% sure on that.

From what I have read, first mobile network was introduced there lately (last year?), and about 50k of users have the access to it - no players within them.

As for the players overseas, aren't there some North Korean players in Latvia as well?

Funnily enough I used to play that game, or a very similar variation, when I was a primary school PE teacher.Its a very PC teamwork, Commie type of game to be sure

We fell apart in the second half. Credit to Portugal some of their goals were very well worked and finished but we just fell to bits. Was very sad to see.

Hopefully we put in a decent performance against Ivory Coast to finish the tournament off with.

It was sad to see N.Korea loose so heavily. Is it true that this game was covered live in Korea? For the very first time something like that happened?

First time since a qualification match against the dirty South. What a match to pick huh? They showed the Brazil game delayed the day after.

Don't think they'll bother showing the Ivory Coast match after a display like that which is a shame

I feel gutted for the players. I know a lot of people focus on the politics with respect to this team, but this has little to do with the players. I thought the team were brilliant against Brazil and created a lot of chances in the first half against Portugal. In fact there was a harsh off side followed by a player getting bought down in the box in the first half (because that might have made all the difference!

). Anyway, North Korea play with the kind of heart similar to a certain team in white, which I really respect. Hopefully they can do their supporters proud in the final game againt Ivory Coast.
