I'm hoping Uruguay do it, just for Forlan. Although I think the Dutch will do it and, as long s Kuyt starts, thats all good with me.

I have a horrible feeling the Dutch will go into this game with one eye on the next one. I hope I'm wrong, because that would be a fatal error.

Yeah, I thought that too, but she appears in all the "sexiest World Cup fans" sites, so I guessed she must be legal.

Very few Uruguay fans to choose from, it has to be said.

still waiting on confirmation of Lugano and Godin availability.
if they both 100% Uruguay win
which is fitting given the superb football they have played this tournament.

Foal is no stranger to the odd hyperbole EG.

Three for me, and two for them.

Wow, looking at that pic of Forlan up there I never realized that he looks like a foot.  Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, just saying.  I mean it's a bad thing in the case of Sarah Jessica Parker, but that's different.  Still wanting Uruguay to win this one.

I don't laugh looking at him, I laugh at the recollection MUFC got rid of him and brought  Rooney and Berbatov in.

Suarez goal v Mexico was brilliant counter-attacking play. That's coachable sh*t right there.
Very good manager, excellent use of available resources, smart team who plays each individiual role FOR the team not THEMSELVES, two very skillful and creative strikers. Often looking for fast passing game and prepared  to follow John Barnes advice and 'get round the back'. No hoofball or cynical foul-fest here...Uruguay not as cool football as Argy, Germ or Spain but on a comparative % of resources they deserve to be #1

Croatia are not at this world cup Buffy, they FAILED  to qualify despite being in a group with the UKRAINE and ENGLAND

at least SERBIA and SLOVENIA  made it though.

insert photo when I have no logical argument to present.
Brazil were more cynical than Uruguay at this World Cup
comments decrying them is minuscule v near obligatory Uruguay wailing

the double standards are breath taking but predictable

No need to reason with you - 'no cynical fouls from Uruguay' when in fact quite possibly the most cynical foul in the history of the World Cup was just committed by a Uruguay player is really the epitome of 'logic', innit?

But carry on supporting those courageous little fellas playing superb football.

yes Suarez cheating is worse than everyone else combined.

as I've stated before I'm not implying or offering that Uruguay are playing guilt free football, simply that there are worse offenders who seem to pass by without comment. I am unsure why they are singled out. Maybe it's a historical thing.

Uruguay have payed some superb football. If the other stuff detracts from this then comparatively who is worth supporting ElG? If we think Holland are not going to get down and dirty on Wednesday morning I fear we are kidding ourselves. Their mindset will be on whatever it takes to win, as opposed to the beautiful game presentation hour.

Modern Football is a Morality Minefield.

To be honest though, I'd like Uruguay to win. Not going to pretend they aren't cynical (Perez is a monster) or that they play outstanding football, but I like their side this year. Real battlers.

But I won't complain if the Dutch win, either.

I don't really have a problem with Uruguay at all - they've done well to get where they are and good on them. I do have a gripe with people saying they've played 'superb football' to get there though. They've played well in patches, rode their luck at times, and got where they are now. Fair enough, but they've hardly shown to be world beaters in the process.

As for the morality stuff, don't really care about that. Everyone is cynical when they need to be.

yes they have been lucky
so have Spain and Ghana could of eliminated Germany too

IMO Uruguay have scored 3 of the best 5 goals at the tournament. that's not luck that's good football.

From what I've seen of Uruguay (and I went back and watched some of their play that I had missed) I have to agree with foal30 in his saying they aren't nearly as cynical as some other sides - especially Brazil.  I seriously think one person said that and then everyone else piled on board.  Yes Suarez' handling was pretty bad, but other than that and consistently over the tournament then no.  They may not play the prettiest football the whole time but they aren't hard on the eyes (no sexual connatations* intended) and certainly don't deserve to be consistently singled out ahead of other teams.  Also, Forlan is superb.

*no idea how to spell that but that is certainly wrong.

I am going for Holland.

For some reason I cant put my finger on exactly, and it is not because of the cheating by Suarez, that is history. Of all the Sth American sides, I like them the least. If they win by a piece of Forlan magic, fair enough though

Probably got to do with wanting a side in the final that will test either Germany or Spain, and I think that is the Dutch

Personally I have zero problem with what Suarez did. He did it, copped his right whack, and the dude choked. Plus he's not playing, which is pretty sweet too.

Yeah, I also don't get the anti-Uruguay sentiment. I certainly see them as no worse than any of the other South American teams and I definitely saw worse football and more cynical play from some African and European teams.

They might not have played brilliantly all tournament (few teams have), but I'm with foul30 - they've scored some great goals and deserve to be where they are.

I'm predicting a fairly dull, low scoring affair with Uruguay to scrape through, perhaps even on penalties again. Sincerely hope I'm wrong on all counts!

Both teams have looked good on the ball retaining possession so far. This should be a good one!

That is a perfect strike. The keeper had no chance.

That'll make the game more interesting. Uruguay seem to be relying on Forlan to spark everything, others have to step up.
