I'm thinking of putting some money on this one - I'm a big SK fan and they're paying $5.00 to win in normal time on bet365.

Just wondering, is the general perception that a South American team will beat an Asian team due to the style of play? Obviously Argentina ripped SK apart on the score board, but personally I thought the scoreboard lied quite a lot in that game. So I'm thinking this could be a good bet.

Your thoughts?

I rate this Uruguay team. As long as they can give Suarez and Forlan good ball they'll go far. I like South Korea too, but I'm think Uruguay 2-0.

strong as in skilled? because SK are the strongest team in the tournament in terms of mental discipline and fitness. A few holes in defense though.

saw that Japan are facing Paraguay so that's an interesting double header. I'm backing both the Asian teams.

quite looking forward to this game. Both teams have played some OK to good football in the comp so far so it's good to see at least 1 'un-fancied'  team in the last 8.

it's also quite open because the QF is against Ghana - USA so all 4 sides should hopefully be thinking  this is our best possible chance.

I think South Korea have been very good, apart from shipping those goals vs the most attacking side in the tournament (Argies). Would give them a good chance of beating uruguay but if uruguay play with a similar amount of pace and flair they may get up.

Going to go watch this on the big screen in Seoul City Hall!
The public here expect their team every time they walk on the field. Also they think Park Ji Sung is the best player in the world.

This is a good Uruguay team, however, my observation is that the bookies have tended to underestimate the Asian teams here (I think SK & Japan were the teams with highest odds that escaped the group phase).

SK still outsider, but $5 represents good value imo. It will be an interesting match-up as will the 'sister' event, Japan v Paraguay.

I know, I know, its serious!

Looking forward to this, hopefully we can get a good game. Want Korea Republic to win but I reckon Uruguay will take this.

Yeah I'm picking Uruguay by 2 - this isn't 02 - FIFA haven't given the go ahead for the refs to do them favours against better opposition.

What a terrible piece of defending.

And Goalkeeping. Come on Korea sort it out.

Three for me, and two for them.

1-0 to Uruguay at the half. Korea have started getting more and more into the game though so not all is lost for them. Uruguay do look very good at the back though.

Three for me, and two for them.

Uruguay through, they were probably second best today. Maybe if it wasn't raining Korea Republic would have won.

Full time 2-1. Gutted for Korea, thought they were the better side for most of the match. Couldn't take their chances though so only have themselves to blame.

Great game to kick off the knockout stages too.

Three for me, and two for them.

Sure Koreans are disappointed, that game was there for the taking for them. Hope Uruguay get done by Ghana in the quarters.

well deserved victory. Comfortable in the end
missed too many chances though, will need to be more clinical next round

Comfortable? Hardly. South Korea battered them for large parts of the game. Uruguay sat on the 1-0 lead without barely a whimper until they conceded, then they woke up and started playing again.

Three for me, and two for them.
