If there's one thing America has going for it, it's that they certainly have the stadiums and infrastructure required to run a successful World Cup.

Three for me, and two for them.

I just don't understand why they are even in the running though, they've had a recent world cup.  I don't see what they've done between now and then that means they deserve a second tournament

No. Not in MLS format, at AC Milan he is in a world-class team, with world-class players, which he is responding to.

If Australia don't get 2022, then the US will get it.

If its in the US, would we get US styled games... like excessive pre match music, half time cheerleaders etc?Michael2010-01-23 20:05:07

I think a lot of people are discounting the Hispanic culture in America which is a huge market and demand for football (Mexico choose to hold matches in USA as they still get huge "home" crowds.

The College football system & MLS (that has helped blood and train a great deal of our current all whites) is also great so we really shouldn't slag off USA football as they have actually done a lot for NZ football.
Galaxy visit to Wellington (Auckland was a disaster) was a huge boost to the profile of the game in NZ)
Not everything to come out of America is evil.

Australia could sell its multi-culturalism as well.

Not a total one-way argument.

San Fran, Chicago, New Orleans and St Louis deserved inclusion IMHO.
