Very torn here, want both countries to progress. Thoughts? I am definentely getting up for this one.

I've jumped on the ghana bandwagon. Purchased a shirt, scarves and beanie over here.

Has to be Ghana, need an African team to go as far as possible.

Gonna be cheering on the USA, after all the bad calls they have had against them, would be nice for them to get thru to the next round.

Tough for me too - would like an African side to do well in the World Cup, but also have a soft spot for this bunch of Yanks. In the end all I hope is that it's a good game, and I'll be cheering the winner of this game to get at least to the semis (even they final if they can do it).

Let's go America.

Keen for Ghana to do well as the last surviving African side, but a US win would be good for the flow-on $$ into the game.

So I don't yet have access to the TV (don't ask me how that happens before 7am but it's true) so has anything memorable happened?

Ghana took an early lead with a nice goal from Boateng. Still hold that lead at the break.

Dempsey wins penalty. Donovan slots it. USA level. 1-1.

Safe to say Bradley had the hair dryer out at half time.
Much better by the USA this half.

2-1 Ghana. What a strike from Gyan. Superb goal.

Great win for Ghana in extra time. Well done to them.

Sad for the USA though too.

Yep. Well played Ghana, harsh for the Yanks but like the Koreans in the earlier game they couldn't take their chances so only have themselves to blame.

Two quite brilliant games to get the Round of 16 started, should be two more brilliant ones tomorrow morning. The World Cup is coming right.

I hope they can topple Uruguay, that would be epic. Cmon Ghana!!!

I watched from the 35th minute onwards and in those 85 minutes America was easily the better team and were so unlucky not to win by several goals.  Some great last ditch defending.  Would have been great if Howard could have got his head to that corner near the final whistle.

Good stuff from Ghana, it's important for an African side to have a good run in this World Cup.

Hope they can do the job on Uruguay now.

Yeah, go Ghana. That winning goal by Gyan is probably my favourite of the tourney so far. It was the perfect combination of instinct, speed, strength, balance, skill and power.
