Im a big fan of Botafogo from Rio de Janeiro where i currently am, I have got to see many sth american teams play on tv and live here and was wondering if any of you have an interest in the football here besides the players that have been taken to europe. The talent here is so vast, there isnt enough money in the world to steal them all away, so what happens the teams in sth america actually have remained relatively strong.

SO which teams do you guys support?

Colo Colo from Chile, i lived there for a year and they played some stunning football. So many players have gone to other countries now though. The likes of Matias Fernandez and Jorje Valdivia were great to watch. River plate is my fav argentinian team. i never really got watch much brazilian football tho.

Can we include North America in this? I will anyway. I used to live in Denver (Colorado) and, because I lived there, I support the Colorado Rapids (somewhat lazily though to be honest).

I once went to see Universidad Catolica from Chile play in the Copa Libertadores. Amazing atmosphere and brilliant football, much more flashy than Euro football. Can't really say I'm a fan but a fantastic experience.

At their home ground in Santiago. Awesome really, I've never heard a crowd sing like that for the full 90 and the flags and flares going off were incredible. I was working over there and the office was right across from Colo Colo's stadium which is huge. And every day there were teams out training and that's the difference, over there it's not so much a sport as a lifestyle.

Cruzeiro huh, well they arent having much fun lately. teams from Minas gerais arent having a good season in general really but things will change they are a strong team. I think Botafogo has to play them soon in the Brasileiro. (Brazilian Championship)

There is a good website called lancenet.com.br if you are interested in keeping up to date with the brazilian leagues. Its all in portuguese but maybe there is an english translation...I can keep you up to date with whats going on in Brazil anyway.

Yeah Botafogo are doing well, but they have had some bad luck with the semi final of copa do brasil and last 4 times with Flamengo ebing draws while Fogao is playing better, a bit frustrating but still very promising.

Brasil - Internacional de Porto Alegre
Mexico - Chivas de Guadalajara
Argentina - Boca Juniors, I guess

I don't get too worked up about how they are going though, since we don't get any of their games.  I'm going to write to Sky soon and ask that they show Copa America as well as Libertadores, so we can get some real quality South American football here.

I have Colocolo, Huachipato, Estudiantes de la Plata and Monterrey Tigres (Central America) strips.  Have a soft spot for Santos in Brazil.

Can't say I'm a rabid supporter of any of them though.

Tend to look out for Bocas result for no otherbreason other than they have a fantastic stadium. Ambition to one day see the Derby of all Derbies - Boca vs River Plate. Mental.

I only follow two teams in the Americas and one outside the Americas.

Chicago Fire Soccer - MLS

Pumas UNAM - Mexico

I don't follow or support the following team, but would love to have a scarf or shirt.

The Strongest - Bolivia (because The Strongest is simply an awesome team name).
