This is posted on the Mainland Football website www.mainlandsoccer.co.nz/

Us lucky folk in CHCH get both semis!  Bring it on!

We are pleased to confirm that Christchurch has been granted provisional approval from FIFA to be a host city for the FIFA U17 Womens World Cup next year.  This global event will occur between 30 October and 16 November, 2008.  It is proposed that Christchurch and the QE11 Stadium will host a full pool round and both semi-finals of the world cup which will involve eight international matches as a minimum.  The final draw is yet to be finalized-however the other three cities selected by FIFA to host the event is Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington.  With this FIFA World Cup event being broadcast out to over 125 countries from throughout the world I am sure your city will see the massive opportunities it presents. I look forward to visiting Christchurch in the near future to work with your events team on developing a close pro-active partnership going forward as we lead up to October, 2008.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely

Umm, the press release you used in your post actually says Wellington is one of the host cities.

Therefore this thread is pointless.

See ya.
