I might lobby for another booby prize for most reds in the group stage

for me it's mainly about drawing non-football fans into the madness - though our organiser has her eye on the money

work?? lol at my work out of 15 people I'm the only one who even knows the World Cup is on. and prob 50% of my workmates are busy waiting for their stupid oval ball allocations to come out even tho is over a year away

Set up one for work today.  Money for 1st and 2nd. As well as the nation conceding the most goal in group play, and the nation receiving the most red/yellow cards in group play.

Question is, who will be contender for the last two prizes.

Contenders for most goals conceded:  Would be guessing us, North Korea considering their group, and .....?
Most cards:  Hard to pick.  Could entirely depend on who gets what ref.  My gut is on Algeria purely because of the crowd trouble they had in qualification.  Not sure who else would be at short odds for this.

If Aussie play like they have done in the warm ups, they might have a chance for most cards.

My work has one with a $5 buy in.

My work is $10 buy in. 16 people, two teams each ($160) - one team from the top two seeded teams from each group and one from the bottom two seeded teams from each group.

Each top seeded team gets 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Each bottom seeded team gets 4 points for a win, 3 for a draw, 0 for a loss.

After the group stages the highest placed non-qualifier receives $50. The lowest placed participant receives $10.

After the final, the person with the highest overall points score receives $70. The person who drew the world cup winner receives $30.

Started my work one today and tickets went like hot cakes.

Stole 2nd Best's 4 prize regime, apart from the fact that I have gone for most goals scored in pool play.

Can't believe I bagged Honduras.

Got a school one going, top seeded team is bought for $10, and you lose 30c for every lower team. The pot is just over $100 now. 1st place get's 50%, 2nd 25, 3rd and 4th 12.5%. Biggest struggle is getting the teams in the middle to get bets placed on. But the thing is starting to fill up.
Shogan is doing the same method for Golden Boot.

Our work sweepstakes you get two teams. 1 group is the top 16 ranked teams and 2nd group is the bottom ranked 16 teams.

2 prizes on offer. 1 for the winner out of the top 16, 1 for the team that progresses the furtherest out of the bottom 16.

I got Brazil in Group 1 - woot!
and I got N Korea in group 2 - a very good candidate.

I tried to get one going using the fifa.com Predictor Game.. a tenner gets you 80% of pool for first, 20% for second. Only 8 so far, too difficult !! Shoulda stuck to draw a team out of a hat

I drew Portugal & North Korea for my 2 picks.

I drew Serbia (top 16) and Nigeria (bottom 16). One of my colleagues drew Camaroon and Algeria lolz

Kinda right place for that article I guess, I wonder how many people will match the same bets.

Set up our one at work, $2 buys you a random team. Had a pretty good response actually, and after not really pushing the sell hard there are only 3 teams left.

Out of about 20 odd we only managed to get about 9 or 10 people into ours, which isnt too bad considering the other dozen odd are women and nerds. $5 a pop, buy as many as you want (only a couple threw in a tenner though)

Anyway we went with the seeded nations + a wild card. I drew England but traded it to our England supporter for Serbia + the wild card.

i was awake at 5.15 thinking about the world cup, so ....

i sent a message that was paranoiacally detailed with every 'rule' spelt out - via a phone (w/o qwerty)- took forever with my texting 'skills'

and i sent it to the wrong distribution list - because the phone screen only revealed some of the DL!!

then way too many meetings meant i had to rush the invite out again late in the day , via a borrowed pc at a worksite i was visiting

i did the draw at home last night at around 10.30

oh well, i hope it gets a bit of banter going
