The volcano under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier in Iceland was causing flight disruptions again today meaning both Heathrow and Gatwick were closed for over half a day today along with flights canceled out of Ireland, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, Edinburgh and Inverness.

With the world cup only 24 days away and national teams needing to move round for both training games and to get settled one has to wonder if any of the teams are slightly worried about eruptions causing problems right through the next three weeks as geologists have said there is no sign of volcanic activity going away anytime soon

England's team was having problems this morning leaving for their high altitude training camp

Apparently there is already backlogs of people waiting so there is a ripple effect and one has to wonder if airlines are legally able to bump ordinary people to get sportsman places

If I was a fan heading to SA frm the UK I'd be kind of nervous right up until my plane left the airport heading there. Least the kiwis and aussies shd be fine

I am going to Dubai for a week next Friday (a kind of pre world cup tan top-up and drinking training camp) so I am more worried about that at this stage.  My plan is to keep my head buried in the sand (not literally) until early next week, and then check the updates every 86 seconds till the plane takes off.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

England shouldn't bother turning up anyway.

maybe... but there must be loads of other team's players based in England that cd get stuck. Apparently one of the biggest problems clearing the last backlog was that planes were all stuck at halfway destinations like Dubai & Hawaii and had to get back to their airport of origin

well they have won the only world cup trophy they'll get this year today!

Seriously though, our boys are going to be doing some altitude training in Austria, plus friendlies coming up against Slovenia and serbia. I'm hoping it won't be an issue.

if the wind is blowing the wrong way it won't make a diff as ALL flights get grounded equally

They can sail there. If a 16 year old convict can do it round the world on her own how hard can it be?

Three for me, and two for them.

Love to see that happen.

Wonder who'd get shot first?

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

yeah but point being they wont be affected by delays from a backlog of people trying to fly,if the skies are clear.

Allegedly

I'm booked on BA who are currently running a rolling set of strikes - very nervy although I don't think even they'd be stupid enough to strike when flights are due to go to Sth Africa for the WC, there would be a lynch mob out

Normo's coming home
