In his defence EG is only on this bandwagon to help Croatia qualify,m then he'll be off it.

European play-off pairs have been drawn this morning:

Republic of Ireland - France

Portugal - Bosnia-Herzegovina

Greece - Ukraine

Russia - Slovenia

By the way, I'm going with Portugal, Greece, Russia and France. With the upset most likely in the France - Ireland tie.

Greece and Ukraine are ranked the closest by FIFA. I'll go for that as my upset.

Ukraine are absolute rubbish. Have seen them play a few times in the past year and can't believe how they've made it this far. Haven't seen Greece in a while, but if they get knocked out by these muppets they should be barred from entering the World Cup for the next 20 years.

The Irish have been doing OK, played well against Italy in both group games, and France haven't exactly set their group on fire. Closest tie to call as far as I'm concerned, but think France have the extra individual quality which may end up deciding the winner.

Portugal BiH is an intersting one, Portugal are heavy favourites but Bosnia have the attacking midfield/forwards that can rival most in Europe, and can score goals against anyone. Their defence is terrible though, and I can see it wilting really badly under pressure in at least one of the games.

Russia have the individual quality on Slovenia, who will probably play like Germany of old. Tight, disciplined, with little flair, but really hard to break down. In a one-off game I'd give them a decent chance, over two games think Ruskies will prevail.

France, Russia, Portugal and Ukraine to progress to the World Cup.

Gut feelings only.
