Has anyone else really, really hurt their elbow playing football? I didn't get knocked, didn't elbow anyone, and didn't fall over. I got home afterwards and the joint really hurts when I extend my arm. Anyone else done this?
I think I'm playing wrong!
I think I'm playing wrong!
Edit: I'll change this thread to the injury thread. Somewhere to discuss the painful/weird injuries us footballers suffer while butchering the beautiful game.

I dislocated and fractured my elbow playing football, and that hurt like a bitch. If that helps.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Maybe something with your shooting technique? Remember my left elbow got a bit sore at futsal once after I tried to hit the crap out of the ball, but was sore for only a couple of minutes.

I think I've pinched a nerve, I can hardly type. I may have done it shooting, although I don't do much of that! It seems weird to be in this much pain without contact or even using my arms.

How did you manage that?

Making a tackle, put my arm out as I was hitting the deck, as you do and I'd done a million times before, only this time the elbow bent the wrong way. Sickening crunching noise and a fair bit of pain. As one of my team-mates said "it made a great noise". 6 weeks in plaster from wrist to shoulder. Not fun.

Wait a minute. I did a stint in goal! I let through two easy saves (I'll blame the glare of the lights). Anyway, I think I bunged my elbow throwing the ball out. Case solved!

Injury thread? I've had two fractured tibia's in the past 24 months. Both the same leg.
Three for me, and two for them.

I have tendonitus in my right sub-scapula( shoulder rotator cuff) from rowing and it flares occasionally if use the joint wrongly. I've has surgery on it and usually have a steroid injection every year whn the pain flares up.
But wasn't until I saw a Kinseologist that I discovered the injury is not so much caused by the shoulder but by the uneven back muscles I have from over devlopement of the muscles involved in rowing and boxing. As certain muscles are really large the smaller muscles are underdeveloped and never get a chance to kick in and build up unless I isolate them so I have a routine to do to try and work them. The shoulder gets sore simply as an end point of a process starting in my lower back
