Finally gets a start in pro football. Looks like playing as a DM.

From Flying Kiwis.

Staying in Ireland for a sec longer, Shelbourne also had that quick turnaround Friday/Monday double-header and they also made a few changes between those two matches. Changes which included Adam Thomas being given a debut away against Bohemians in a 1-1 draw.

Too soon for the highlights package so can’t tell you much more than that Shelbourne struck first through Sean Boyd in the 74th minute but were pegged back in the 87th by a Grant Horton goal. Thomas played the whole thing and actually lined up as a defensive midfielder in a 5-3-2 formation. Making his professional debut at 29 years of age. Outstanding. Never give up, kids.

Oddly not in match day squad (after his first start last game, in a 1-1 draw), as Shelbourne (7th), host Finn Harps (10th).

Edit - Shelbourne (stay 7th) lose 0-3. So that must help Thomas's chance of making next match day squad, unless he's injured/Covid.

Next game post FIFA break is a potential Kiwi match up in Eire. Sligo hosting Shelbourne.

Previous game at RB, and I think his debut was as a DM. Perfect versatile squad player I guess in a league that plays many games, often 3 a week.

Thomas drops down to the Irish First Division to promotion contenders Galway United.

A rest of the season deal. Galway only a point off top spot in that division, although they have played one match more. Hopefully means a bit more game time for Thomas over there.

Irish Cup tie and Thomas's new club Galway win 7-0 away at amateur Bluebell United. Bluebell had player sent off in only the 11th min.

Sneaky loan deal to chuck up here. Adam Thomas hasn’t featured much for top flight Irish club Shelbourne. Has gotten a few games in there but not many and there probably isn’t a major scope for that to change in the short term. So instead he’s been borrowed for the rest of the 2022 season by first division club Galway City, who are sitting second and challenging for promotion. This is a ‘get some matches’ kinda gig and if it all goes well and promotion happens then the lad’ll have some fine options for next term.

Thomas has already played his first game for his loan club. There was an FAI Cup match away to Bluebell United for a debut and not only did he play... he scored too! Bagged a 51st minute strike, the fourth of the evening as Galway United ended up winning 7-0 to advance. Not a bad way to make an introduction.
