During the recent international break, Alex Greive created St Mirren history as he became the most capped player while at Saints.

Edit - Greive on the bench. Baccus & Strain both start for SM.
Fellow Socceroos Devlin & Knowles start for Hearts. Garang Kuol on the bench.
Kuol (on loan from Newcastle) yet to score in the SPL. 7 games but only 1 start.
The Aussies - for SM Baccus subbed at 90 mins & Strain a full game.
for Hearts Devlin off at 76 mins, Knowles full game & Kuol an unused sub
Hearts down to 10 men from 62 mins (2-0) so that would have helped SM no doubt.
https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2023/04/15/scotland/premier-league/rangers-fc/saint-mirren-fc/3801122/
Game back at 2-2 soon after, but then all Rangers after that.
Full game Strain, but no Baccus for St Mirren.

Despite the defeat, SM make the top 6 cutoff. Luckily Livingston also lost.
SM (6th) travel to Hibernian (5th). Top 4 in Scotland get some taste of European football. SM 4 pts below Hearts in 4th.

As usual in the SPL, Aussies everywhere.
James Jeggo starts for Hibs, with Lewis Miller on their bench.
Ryan Strain starts alongside Greive, with Keanu Baccus on the bench for SM.
Still can't lead St Mirren to a positive result as they fall 2-1 to Hibernian.

There is the goal back!

However, St Mirren would pull one back four minutes later with Main the provider as he flicked Carson's long kick on for Greive who burst through and knocked through Marshall's legs to reduce the deficit.

Aussie count. 6 Socceroos in total
SM - Strain starts & Baccus on the bench
Hearts - Knowles & Devlin start. Atkinson & Kuol on the bench.
Kuol 7 apperances, but only 1 start, yet to score.
Hearts went down to 10 men at 77 mins (2-1) but got a 95th min equaliser.
Aussies -
SM - Strain with SM's 2nd goal off at 89 mins. Baccus replaced Greive
Hearts - full game Rowles. Devlin off at 61 mins (SM up 2-0). Atkinson on at HT and with the assist for Hearts 1st goal. Kuol an unused sub.

Wood scrubbed out. Waine & Mata under injury clouds. Greive could be leading the AWs line against Sweden.
Last thing AWs need is for him to be out injured for Sweden.
2-3 week ankle injury apparently, and may have played his last game for Saints this season. Two SPL rounds left after today.
Edit - a 2-2 draw. 83 mins Strain & full game Baccus.
https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2023/05/24/scotland/premier-league/aberdeen-fc/saint-mirren-fc/4068743/
Strain & Baccus both started.
Final game this weekend hosting Rangers. Hopefully Greive is fit for the June AWs games.
Strain & Baccus both start.
Edit - SM lose 0-3.
Greive finished an injury interrupted season (also missed some games with the death of his father) in the SPL with
12 starts
plus 16 sub appearances
4 goals
Only Kiwi worldwide currently scoring in like a Top 15 coefficient league.
Brief glimpse of Alex walking around the pitch, so hopefully he's okay for the AWs next month. Plus short Keanu Baccus speech.
Alex picks up Young Player Of The Year
Could be some tough competition for Greive this season.
Also through to the next round are St Mirren following a 4-0 win over Forfar. No dramas for them since losing their first game. They subsequently won three in a row following to finish top of their (admittedly kinda weak) group. However Alex Greive was an unused sub in the Forfar win as new attacking signings appear to have forced him down the pecking order. Doesn’t help when guys like Stav Nachmani and Mikael Mandron are coming in and immediately scoring League Cup goals. Greive only played 130 minutes across their four group stage games.

Very handy result for SM first up on the road in Edinburgh. Hibernian manager made 2 changes in the 29th min, with Hibs down 0-2.
Aussie count in this game -
SM - Baccus full game, Strain off at 91 mins.
Hibs - Martin Boyle off at 63 mins, replaced by 36 yr old Adam Le Fondre. James Jeggo on in the 81st min. Lewis Miller an unused sub.

Thing is, he (Greive) may not have even played under other circumstances. The Buddies have stocked up their striker shelves over the summer which led to AG only getting 130 minutes combined across their four League Cup group games – not even playing at all in the last of them. That day it was new signing Mikael Mandron who started up front (and scored a brace in a 4-0 win over Forfar) with Olusanya subbing in for him at half-time. Mandron was named to start against Hibs too... but was a late scratch due to an injury sustained in warm-ups. Thus Olusanya joined Conor McMenamin up front (both also new signings) and Greive was the bloke brought on with twenty to go instead of Olusanya as might otherwise have been the case.

Edit - Greive on the pine. Mandron back from injury, so as above despite his winning goal last week, no gtee Greive will get mins.

St Mirren into the quarters.
St Mirren (4th) host Aberdeen (10th)
https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2023/08/27/scotland/premier-league/saint-mirren-fc/aberdeen-fc/4104382/
A SPL game where the number of Kiwis equalled number of Aussies.
Baccus & Strain both with full games for SM (2nd). If SM had hung on for the win, they would be top of the table! Aberdeen 10th.
James McGarry vs Alex Greive in the Scottish Premiership
— The Niche Cache (@thenichecache) August 27, 2023
Both got decent spells off the bench, with McGarry on league debut
Greive scored to put St Mirren in front, his 2nd of the season, but Aberdeen equalised via penalty deep in stoppage time for a 2-2 draw#FlyingKiwis https://t.co/8HPnHCoVPZ
