Bailey Gaughan (Cardiff Met FC | Wales)

One from left field - Former West Coast Rangers midfielder Bailey Gaughan has turned up in Wales, signing for Cardiff Met FC yesterday on a one year deal.
He's already straight into action too as the Cymru Premier kicked off overnight - Cardiff with a big 6-1 win over newly promoted Holywell, where Gaughan came off the bench just after the hour mark (3-1) for his debut.

Looks like the Welsh league has grown from 12 to 16 teams this season as well, so I get the feeling we might be seeing some more of these lopsided scores over the coming months.

Debated on whether he gets his own thread too, but then remembered that we gave Zac Jones one for his time at Haverfordwest not so long ago.

The Cymru Prem is a weird one really. You've got TNS who you'd generally label a professional club, although would be National League at best, and then the majority of league is absolutely semi-pro. I'm not actually sure Cardiff Met pays any players, they certainly didn't a few years back.

Aside from TNS I'd say the comparative level is 7th tier English football, I think most sides are probably below National League North/South.

I guess the hope with a move like this is that he has a strong season or two and gets picked up by another club with more cash/a full time environment ala Zac Jones.

Exactly, the pipeline is there. Newport County in particular signs a lot of players from the Cymru prem
