Minimal minutes for Bill so far at Strasbourg.

Four appearances, 104 minutes (68 of those in his last game), one start , three as a sub.

But he only made his debut on September 19.

His first start was in Strasbourg's last game on October 16 vs. Boulogne.

No French 3rd Div. games until next weekend.

RC Stasbourg won again in the weekend. Fifth win in a row and they are now second in the league table.

Bill was on the bench but got no game time. I guess we can say he isn't exactly firing in French Div 3. Still, there is a long way to go until the end of the season and he might have some better fortune later on.

RC Strasbourg won again on Friday and are now top of the League. If they can keep this up they will get promoted to Div 2 for sure.

Bill did not feature again in this game. He has been on the bench most of the time at Strasbourg and occasionally gets some game time late as a substitute.

If I was him I would be a bit annoyed at the way things have panned out. He put his country before his pro career and now he's bottomed out on both fronts.

As I posted before his decision to skip Olympic Marseille's pre season had a very negative impact on his standing at the club. Chosing to go to PNG to play age group football instead of staying at Marseille was a huge error. But to Bills credit he chose to help Hudson out.

Then he gets loaned out to Strasbourg. But instead of going straight to the club he goes off and plays for NZ again....missing valuable time to settle into his new club(Div 3 France does not recognize international windows) Arriving late he  has really struggled to break into the first team.

Now Hudson has dropped him from the AW's citing "lack of match time"...FFS he's helped NZ out to the detriment of his pro career. If he had taken time out from playing for NZ until he had established his pro career then he probably would still be at OM and getting some match time. In the long run he would be better value for NZ coming from an established pro setup. Now he is a bit in the wilderness.

I'm not sure why Hudson has let Boyd develop his pro career but has interfered with Tuiloma's

Billy T started for Strasbourg this weekend. They lost 0-1 and bill was subbed after 57 minutes. Strasbourg are 2nd??? in the league. Good to see him getting a start. Hopefully the second half of the season goes well for him. It would be great to see him start every week and the club get promoted to Div 2

Yeh although being subbed off after 57 is a slap in the face.

If anyone has listened to Hudsons interview with Piney on Xmas Eve I think, Hudson says that because he is not playing, he comes into AW camp outta match shape so he doesn't last 70mins, Hudson has decided he is better off trying to secure mins with his club and a permanent spot and getting match fitness which helps Bill more them taking him away from his club.

It's actually the right move and I think you should try listen to that interview before commenting further on Hudsons sexual prowess.

Tuiloma on the bench, but not required as 1st placed Strausbourg win 3-0 verus Beziers.  Strausbourg looking a strong bet for promotion to Ligue 2, now 3 points clear of 2nd placed Lucon.

Still Bill is getting very little game time, only starting 2 games since being loaned out by OM.

Out of interest, OM are struggling a bit in Ligue 1, sitting in 8th with a game in hand of all the 7 teams above them.

Biil seemingly now confirmed to being a regular in the Strasbourg II side, who play in CFA2 (French 5th tier).

He hasn't been in the top Strasbourg match day squad for some time. Strasbourg looking good for promotion to Ligue 2 - currently top of National league (3rd tier) with 9 matches to go.

Anyway Bill's career has certainly stalled this season. I think he is still on loan to Strasbourg from Marseille - so be interesting what develops in next few months.

Surely he is too good for the ASB Premiership!

After the under 20's no one would have picked that he'd be playing that level. Is it the same as what Chris James was playing? Interesting times ahead. I would prefer him that resigning someone like Lia as he is stil so young but has a good head on his shoulders.

In some ways, Bill might be better off on loan in the obscurity of Strasbourg's reserve side.

The wheels are falling off the Marseilles club with bad coaching from Michel, inept and apathetic owners and a mediocre playing squad.

Manager Michel's days are numbered - reports have the club wanting to replace him at season's end and apparently they have approached Chilean national team manager Sampaoli. A new manager (and Sampaoli is still in regular contact with his and Bill's mentor Bielsa) could bring new chances for Bill:

http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2016/marseill...

The fans have turned on the players with a recent riot and attempted pitch invasion at the Velodrome and players having to be smuggled out of the stadium after games amid flying bottles.

No home wins since September 13 and currently twelfth on the table (it's tight in the bottom half with Marseilles only six points above the third-to-bottom side). No wins in their last seven league games (2 losses, five draws) Eight wins from 31 league games this season (a club record 15 draws so far). Seven league games remaining.

http://offsiderulepodcast.com/2016/03/22/ligue-1-m...

"Sixteen games played, two wins, nine draws and five defeats. Only bottom of the table Troyes have a worse home record and things were brought to a head on Friday night when they lost 5-2 to Rennes.

If Marseille had struggled for the rest of the season it would be easy to pinpoint obvious problems, but in complete contrast they have the fourth best away record in Ligue 1.

They have still drawn six games, too much for a team pushing for European football, but they have only lost three times.

You have to go back to the summer to find the root of the problem. Andre-Pierre Gignac, Dimitri Payet, Giannelli Imbula and Andre Ayew all left the club – stripping OM of experience and stand out quality. The players that came in had potential, but with the exception of former Chelsea and Arsenal man Lassana Diarra they are all young and inexperienced.

When you have 70,000 fans demanding success and expecting results, when it goes sour the Velodrome will let you know.

Defeats to Angers and Nice were huge blows, but greeted with as much disgust were the draws with Gazelec, Guingamp and Lille. It’s wasn’t just the draws, but the insipid performances given by Michel’s men that so riled the fans.

Friday’s game exemplified all the on-field problems inside 90 minutes.

The defence has been all over the place at times: poor communication, discipline and a lack of togetherness makes it easy to pull apart, all too often relying on heroics from goalkeeper Steve Mandanda to keep them in the game....

...It’s safe to say that a lot of the players just aren’t good enough to play at the level Marseille – or, at least, their fans – are striving for, but poor coaching hasn’t helped. However, Michel is not where the problem starts.

You have to look further up the ladder, to the President Labrune and club owner Margarita Louis-Dreyfus. The latter doesn’t want to own the club and won’t back the project with her own money, but you can’t blame her when the man making the decisions – Labrune – has made mistake after mistake.

Marseille are rotten to the core. If this great club wants to build a successful team on the pitch, they need to rebuild in the boardroom. Without new ownership, a new president and perhaps a new board in place, any changes on the field are just patching up the cracks.

The Stade Velodrome is now one of the most spectacular stadiums in Europe, but sadly the team that plays there has been built on crumbling foundations."

It certainly is tough going for Bill. He's just turned 21 so the priority for him is to obviously get first team football but it can be harder for younger defensive midfielders as it's often a position managers want some experience in.  He must have thought Strasburg would give him plenty of minutes given the division they are in. It must be very testing times for him to warm the bench as much as he has.

Does his contract finish this year at Marseille? Gut feel is he needs an agent to get him into another league. Will be interesting to see how he goes at Nations Cup...

According to transfermarkt his contract with OM runs until June 2018.

I think they'd let him go before then though if he wanted to leave.

Tuiloma in match day squad but not required as Strausbourg draw 0-0. They are almost certain to be promoted now to Ligue II with only 4 games left.

Stil slim mathematical chance that OM may be relegated and also end up Ligue II. Interesting end of season for Tuiloma.

Strausbourg beat CA Bastia 3-0 to virtually seal automatic promotion to Ligue 2. Tuiloma not in match day squad.

http://au.soccerway.com/matches/2016/05/06/france/...

Looks like a great atmosphere at Strausbourg's home ground, and they were obviously too big a club to be languishing in French 3rd tier?

Still Tuiloma now needs to be going to club where he is playing regularly 1st team football.

Also OM, are now confirmed safe in Ligue 1 being 8 points above the relegation spots with only 2 games to go.

Promotion party for Strasbourg delayed by at least a week, as they lost 0-1 at home to 3rd placed Amiens.

Top 2 teams only are promoted, but with only 2 games left and Strasbourg still 5 points ahead of Amiens - and variously superior goal difference - they would have to lose both their remaining games to not go up.

As with Rojas, does Tuiloma now stay out on loan from OM, or try stay with Strasbourg who most likely will be playing in Ligue 2 next season?

According to Hudson it has only been the Strasbourg's coach's refusal to change a winning side, that has seen Tuiloma get very little playing time of late. So you'd think potentially only an injury or two away from playing regularly in Ligue 2 next year with Strasbourg.

Big couple of months in European off season for both Kiwi boys.

Interestingly, Strasbourg's promotion rivals Amiens have Bill's potential OFC Nations Cup rival Georges Gope-Fenepej of New Caledonia who is a regular striker for them.

New Caledonia have an agreement with Amiens that they will only call Gope-Fenepej up for the Nations Cup if Amiens are no longer in the running for promotion to Ligue 2.

Finally some good news for Bill.

He started for Olympic Marseilles first team in their preseason match against Swiss Div 1 team Lausanne yesterday. I did not see the match but reading the official match report it seems like Bill had a good match. He was rated one of OM's top three players. He was praised for his solid physical defense and his distribution. The Bloggers on the OM fan site were also positive. Some gave Bill, OM's man of the match.

This is a huge season for Bill. Year two of a three year contract means he must cement a place in the OM first team squad. So he is off to a good start.

OM is officially up for sale. The current owner appears to be "asset stripping" the club. Any player saleable is being sold. The latest is Mitchy Batshuayai who has gone to Chelsea for 40 million euros. So far 16 players have gone from last year. The squad is being filled out with OM club youngsters like Bill coming back from loans or with older players from lower leagues coming in on a free transfer. There are apparently 4 or 5 more recruits arriving but the good thing for Bill is they will unlikely be of high quality. If he has a solid preseason then there is every expectation that he will at least be a regular off the bench for the first team in Ligue 1.

Marseille are playing Ajax Amsterdam in Beziers next week. I am going down there to see the match so I'll file a Tuiloma match report
