Watched the highlights and there were none from Spurs! Man. They’ve surely got it worse than the Nix. Kulusevski and James Maddison out, but still. Forest were rampant and Spurs…didn’t looked like a team from the Football league, let alone the Premier League.

Could’ve been 8-9 it seemed to me. Mental.

Frank will rightly take a lot of the blame but probably doesn't help that his keeper is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Mind you he could always not play him.

Three for me, and two for them.

I feel like last week Spurs was smashing their European opponent. Far out. Feel sorry for their fans.

Would love to see Wood win this. It's surely between him and Fox?

It should be Fox by some distance.

New Zealand international Chris Wood says his troublesome knee has been one of the “hardest and most frustrating” injuries of his career.

After being sidelined since October, Wood says his recovery has been frustrating for everyone at his Nottingham Forest club, including medical staff.

“At the start, we thought it was only going to be a two to three-week injury. We had targets and everything set for then, and it just didn’t transpire,” Wood told NottinghamshireLive.

“This is why it’s been one of the hardest (injuries), because there has been no end goal for me. Normally with an injury you are four to six weeks and they give you a target game of X, Y and Z and you can really strive for that.

“With this, speaking to the medical team and the staff, there’s no end date. It’s a case of when it’s ready, it will be ready.”

Wood has returned to training on grass and is gradually building towards a return to English Premier League action.

“It’s swelling of the bone, that’s as plain as I can put it,” Wood told NottinghamshireLive.

“After four weeks, I stopped caring what it was and just concentrated on getting it fixed rather than worrying about that. I’ve got to make sure it’s right, and then I will be back to normal.”

That’s really not good.

Auckland will rise once more

Sounds like maybe a Bakers Cyst/meniscus flare up. Sometimes they settle down with rest and rehab. Sometimes you yes need a key hole op to tidy up the cartilage. Or so I’ve been told

'It is a version of a cartilage op. It certainly won’t be days, obviously. We are hoping it will be weeks. We will have to wait and see how it settles. The signs were good from the surgical point of view.'

'I don’t like throwing timescales about because of potential disruption on the way back to fitness. We will just have to wait and see.'

That’s really not good.

Not if you are a Forest fan, living in the here and now.
They sit 17th, one spot and 5 points above the drop zone.

But if he's back by March (even April), that gives him time to get match fit before the World Cup. Though yeah he'd have to be unlikely to travel all the way to NZ for those March games.

I'm putting some faith in AI.

For a professional football player, the typical recovery period and return to play after an arthroscopic cartilage "tidy up" (debridement/partial meniscectomy) is approximately 4 to 8 weeks.

He will never admit it but bet he is PO that his season has been derailed by injury from a nothing international callup.
What started out as a season i think most of us hoped we might see him score his 100th EPL goal to one all we want to do is see him fit and back playing.

He’s probably philosophical about it. It could have been anything at training or any game day.

Tbh this surgery sounds like it maybe a positive step to take control of an injury situation. The question is how much has he got left in him. He was at a great fitness level for 2-3 years. Can he get back to that standard?

Also I thought Forest looked good against City. Possibly they win it with the Woodsman available. Much more  the defensive wall and the confident attack of pre-Ange days. I don’t think they’ll be panicking, but they’ll want to be getting some results soon.

Probably accurate, you dont suddenly develop cartilage issues around the knee due to one incident, it happens over a longer period and finally gets to the poiint where surgery is needed to remove the floaty bits. May have been aggravated during the international window but I doubt it was caused then.

Big big win for Forest.
They stay 17th, but are now 7 pts ahead of West Ham (18th & drop zone).

Bad night for Nuno, and relegation now a real possibility for the Hammers.

Can't find out any more news re an update of Wood's recovery.

At his latest media conference, Dyche said he was unable to predict when the striker would be able to play again.

“No, not yet,” he said.

“He’s seeing the specialist for a follow-up scan. I think it might be (on Thursday). Certainly by the end of this week or early next week.

“But that’s only a check-up, it’s all going well so far.”

During the Christmas break, Wood underwent surgery to address the knee problem that’s kept him out of action since October.

Wood’s knee problems became apparent in October, and he missed New Zealand’s November friendly internationals against Colombia and Ecuador, played in the United States, and has not featured for Forest since mid-October.

Wood has yet to play for manager Sean Dyche since he replaced Ange Postecoglou as Forest manager.

He is unlikely to be involved in New Zealand’s two upcoming internationals in March when they’ll play in a series with Finland, Chile and Cape Verde in Auckland.

“He's doing good,” Bazeley said of Wood, whose 88 international caps are the equal-most of any All White and whose 45 goals are by far the most in team history. “I spoke to him last week. At this stage, he's just in recovery mode. He hasn't set any dates, and the club haven't really said anything yet. Our medical departments are in contact. We're all fingers crossed now and hoping that it's the end of his issues that he's had and that he gets back to being fully fit.”

Anyway, of more pressing concern...

A very big blow for Nottingham Forest, but that would be an unfillable hole if he wasn't fit and able to make the world cup squad...

Shark!

Wow. Would pretty much ruin all
Hopes of any results at the World Cup. He’s our only pure goal threat and I just can’t see the ball hitting the back of the net without him.

Fingers and toes crossed for Woodsy’s recovery.

And in other news.............

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2026/01/27/report-links-all-white-chris-wood-with-potential-move-to-italian-giants/

New Zealand international captain Chris Wood may be sidelined by injury, but that has not stopped speculation about a possible move from English Premier League club Nottingham Forest.

The latest report to circulate in Europe has linked the All Whites striker with Italian Serie A heavyweight Juventus, suggesting the Turin club is monitoring Wood’s recovery and fitness before deciding whether to pursue a move.

Under the headline ‘Club will assess condition of Nottingham Forest star before swoop’, Inside Futbol claims Wood has become an option for Juventus after a move to sign Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri on loan appears to have faltered.

Journalist Michele De Blasis, who follows Juventus for news outlets such as Oggi Sport Notizie, has posted on X that the Italian giants are “interested” in Wood and “will evaluate his condition and decide whether to move forward”.
