Reading the game text, notes on Chris Wood were:

Caught off side about 5 times, probably why the coach subbed him

Cleared a freekick in defense in the first minute.

and won a free kick at some point.

If we build it, they will come...

Annoying that the one game they show of WBA Wood's on the bench

Sad ain't it.  The two games shown on Australian TV from the football league end up 0-0.

Good to see Wood playing almost a full game for WBA in their 3 - 1 win this weekend, came on as a 6 min sub, and being effective, had  a few good shots and assists.  Really important for him to have time on the field each week as we get nearer to the 2nd leg game.

That game was mid-week. Swansea won 1-0, Wood played full game.

shame on my name

read an article off the front page of yellowfever that told me that yesterday?

just went to check and saw they played blackpool last night, drew 0-0. Woods got 6 mins plus injury time

Wood got about 7 mins + injury time against Coventry last night. West Brom drew nil all and apparently Wood missed a golden one on one opportunity in stoppage time that would have given them the win

Apparently hit it straight at the keeper.

At least Australia has any Championship football.

An interview with Chris from West Brom official website from last week: he's fairly talkative and articulate for a 17 year-old, judging from this and other interviews I've read:

He's relishing playing often two games a week (e.g. played whole game for the reserves  this week too, after sub appearance for first team on weekend).

Came on as a sub when 2 nil down to QPR and had a shot blocked in extra time which fell in the path of a fellow striker to equalise 2 all....man has Chris's left foot improved, strength, touches and composure in front of goal too...has only got to get better for sure not only for himself but also NZ!!!!

He was involved in the first goal too, putting himself about

For the second goal he controlled a long ball and got a good shot off from the edge of the area despite being the only striker amongst 4 defenders.  Excellent cameo!

Considering he has only turned 18 - it was even more impressive how he held those players off too!

hIGHLIGHTS anywhere?

somewhere on one of the west brom fan sites (westbrom.com) often find highlights links. I found a download of the entire game and watched the last 35 mins (all the goals and Woods 25 mins). He was excellent, linked up well and was a real presence. did really well to win the ball from a nothing long ball, get his shot away and force the save that led to the goal.

Has only the one goal this year, but must have five or six assists now which is good to see.

Seems to be regularly subbed on in the 2nd half. Has jumped ahead of Bednar. Will probably get pushed out when Ishmael Miller comes back in, though.

WBA going great at the moment

Ishmael Miller is one of my favourite young players in the world. Hes got such huge potential.

Thats great news. You would think that West Brom would be in the premiership again before his contract expires so we could very well see young Chris playing Premier league football again in future
