He's having a medical at Leicester tomorrow. Looks like that will be where he is heading.
Heard from a source at Crystal Palace that Chris is headed to Leicester. A big club with real prospects. I just hope the goals don't dry up with new team mates. However he has proved a versatile scorer at a number of clubs so he's clearly adaptable.
He must be sick of living out of a suitcase.
Millwall fans ain't going to be happy.
Wood is going to get beaten up by the Millwall hools. Looks like a lot of the balls into him for his goals for Millwall were provided by the Aussie Lowry - anyone know how good Leicester are ? Had a quick look in forums and looks like they are in Sack Richie mode ; not too happy with the team.
Millwall fans were pretty confident that they'd lose him, they can't pay the same sorts of wages that other championship clubs can. If Millwall are to get him, he'd be their most expensive signing ever as they've never paid over £1,000,000 for anyone. I'd prefer him to stay at Millwall just because he should continue to thrive there and the manager has a good record of nurturing younger players. But Leicester has a better chance of promotion and as long as Chris can replicate the form he's in then he'll be fine....
Daily Mail reporting it as a done deal. Wood is a fox.
So can anyone tell me this: do west brom think he can't make it in the top flight or is it just business, ie at this moment in time with contract up, their striker stocks are full; time to cash in?
Leicester have won the battle to sign Chris Wood after agreeing a £1.5million deal with West Brom for the free-scoring New Zealand striker.
Wood has been in prolific form during a loan spell with Millwall, who were anxious to turn his temporary stay into a permanent transfer and were competing with Leicester, Huddersfield and several other clubs for his signature.
But the 21-year old has opted for Championship promotion chasers Leicester and will be confirmed as a Foxes’ player shortly.
Goal machine: Chris Wood has been in fine fettle for Milwall
Leicester manager Nigel Pearson bemoaned his side’s lack of a cutting edge after seeing them follow a 1-0 home defeat by Cardiff with a goalless draw at Hull on Boxing Day.
He was adamant that the addition of more firepower could prove vital to their promotion prospects and admitted he was hopeful of a transfer breakthrough in the next few days.
Though he played down speculation that he was closing in on Wood, the burly West Brom target man was always his main priority and is now heading to the East Midlands to bolster Leicester’s promotion push.
TVNZ says: '"British media are reporting Premiership club West Brom have accepted a 1.5 million pound offer for Wood with a view to him joining Leicester when the transfer window opens in the new year."
What will happen to Chris in the meantime? Could he get a final game for Millwall, or will WBA pluck him out of there, pending the move to Leicester in the New Year?
so does Chris have a say as to where he goes? Or is it WBA calling the shots? I would have thought he would have like to have stayed at Milwall. But perhaps he's chasing the money, can't blame him but as Paul Ifill once said your football can suffer if you chase the dollar(pound in this case).
If WBA accepted both offers, then its entirely up to wood.
Right, thanks for clearing that up, guess WBA didn't accept Milwalls offer though. Hope the Milwall fans are understanding and don't give him grief when he returns to play there.
No, sounds like WBA accepted both offers from millwall and leceister, meaning (i think) it would have come down to wages and wood choice in terms of club prospects, location etc etc
If Millwall get promoted and leceister don't it won't have been a good move. But hope it pays off.
It's tricky- he's had a couple of good spells- one at Millwall and one at Birmingham, but also had a couple of clubs where he didn't do that well.
hope he goes well at Leicester and makes it into the Prem. Certainly looked the goods on the highlights reels for Millwall.
Only club he's been really average at was Bristol City really ; was good for Brum and Brighton
^ this
^^ Of all his career, you drag up 93 days at Barnsley to be negative about . Typical
which goal is better- Marco's tonight or the one Chris scored with his left for Millwall?

Is this a record transfer amount for a kiwi football player? Pretty sure all of Ryan's moves have been free but happy to be proved wrong. I was too young to care if Winton's moves around the continent were free or for $$£££ (obviously pre Bosman ruling).

Reid's would have been decent.
Reid transfer from Denmark was "for an undisclosed sum", rumoured to have been around three million pounds, according to transferleague.co.uk.
Transfermarkt.co.uk have the transfer as "for an undisclosed sum", but currently estimate his value at three million pounds.
Gotta say I'm excited for the All Whites future with both Wood and Rojas pushing on (Brockie too)
Hoping Kosta continues his development too.

A pinch of faith added to the mixture should help

WeeMac is the only one that gives me hope - you're right, though; we really need a great white hope in midfield now. Either that, or Elliott needs to wind back the clock 10 years..
The sad thing is that Elliott right now is still probably our best option.
Yeah he's already been pulled according to the BBC.

Far from convinced with dan keat.
David Browne is currently sixteen. But come 2014 he might be eighteen. And by then he might be very, very good.

Yeah he's already been pulled according to the BBC.
Reading that, its not entirely 100% that Leicester have him although its safe to assume he is going somewhere but not Millwall.
Have WBA and Leicester confirmed he is going there officially?
