Will be interesting to see who Woods coach will be next season. I imagine Nigel will be gone by the of the wek if not by the morning

What a shame for Woodzee.  Bet he is gutted.

Leicester didn't really deserve it in the end unfortuantely - have been shit for a good 3 months. Would've been murdered in the Prem and Wood's form has really dropped off as of late.

I haven't seen many games over the last month but this morning they just kept lumping it towards him. Not much you can do as a lone striker getting the ball around your ears all day.

You can do a Rory Fallon and elbow defenders in the face...

When they played the ball on the ground, Wood seemed much more likely to break the defence. Got caught offside marginally a few times with grounded through balls.

He's survived the first clear-out. Beckford, Waghorn, Drinkwater, St  Ledger, Gallagher, Danns & Wellens all told they can go. Pearson has been assured his job is safe but he's under pressure to trim the squad to cut costs.

Considering he signed on a 3 year gig, I would be very surprised if he was given his papers.....

Goal & an assist against Leamington FC, in a 2-0 win for the Foxes this morning. Played the 2nd half against the Conference North side.

Saw a big poster of him at Bangkok airport the other day. LFC [King Power] have a club shop there.

Leicester City vs Monaco.....playing at 3.am for any insomniacs out there.

Chris Wood vs Falcao.......go Chris!!

Match report later

Chris had an OK half...subbed at at half time. Had one very good shot on goal.....nice one two went round his marker and blasted in a powerful shot...keeper touched it over the bar.

His team was well outplayed....Monaco midfield was way too classy. Monaco won 3-0....Falcao got a goal but looked rusty

People often point out his less-than-perfect touch but those were both great touches either side of the assist. And not a bad assist too.

I reckon Wood is going to have a much better career than Killen.

Fuck this stupid game

Agree.Good goal alright.Nice touch from both players

I would say he already has had a better career.

Boom! Reminds me of his goal for West Brom

To be honest Killen was always a bit meh, its hard to believe wood is still 21 and he most certainly has the physical presence to go far in the english game. Just needs to work on the finishing a bit more.

Chris  started the game and subbed after 61 mins after his work led to the first Leicester goal, as the Foxes started the season with a hiss and a roar beating Boro 2-1 away:

http://www.lcfc.com/fixtures-results/match-report/?matchid=3630515&tcmuri=954474&pageView=full#anchored

"In attack Vardy partnered Chris Wood, with last season’s top scorer Nugent on the bench following a slight thigh problem that kept him out for parts of last week....

....Tenacious work from Vardy then won City a free kick that Wood went close with, but with ten minutes until half time, the hosts struck clinically to take the lead....

....

An extended spell of pressure saw Konchesky play the ball into Wood on the edge of the box, who twisted and turned before the ball eventually fell into the path of Drinkwater 20 yards out – the midfielder firing a seemingly effortless shot into the top corner.

Revitalised, City poured forward with a renewed confidence and finally got themselves in front on 67 minutes through the hard-working Vardy.

Nugent, who had replaced Wood just minutes earlier, set Vardy free with a beautiful ball down the left, but there was still work to do for the striker, who worked an opening on his right foot to curl it into the far corner for 2-1...."

I think wood is already easily our top national striker, far greater than killen and even smeltz has quite a career in front of him all going well

I agree that Wood is probably better placed for a bigger career than Killen, but think Killen did pretty well, and was a bit unlucky too.  I seem to recall he was on the bench for Man City in a Prem League match (was Keegan the coach? ); and then when he was at Kilmarnock, he was top scorer in the SPL with about 15 goals halfway through the season, then had a major injury and just never quite seemed get back to that form again.

Anyway, great to see Wood start the season well- and hope to see some Leicester games (maybe v Ipswich!) on Sommett.

Think it was Hibs. not that it matters but anyhoo.

Wood be my first pick to start up front in the WC qualifiers....with Weemac sitting in behind him and Rojas and Costa wide. But I suspect Ricki is going to do some weird stuff and get Smeltz and Killen in there somewhere too. Wood > Smeltz IMO. He has to start upfront.

I really struggle with that aye. There is a heap of discussion about his touch, watched a fair bit of him last year and I'd have gone as far to say that that is one of his strengths. Often incredibly deft and some great interplay. His bigger problem seems to be that sometimes he tries to be overly deft - or that the ball is constantly played to him in the air.

Leicester v Leeds , Championship:  Sommet Sports, Freeview ch.14 - MONDAY 3.30AM

Will be great to see complete Championship games on TV in this country for the first time and to see Chris in action...

Leicester v Leeds should be a good one with two sides with promotion aspirations.
