He'd probably be getting paid half as much as he currently is at Leicester

Conversely that buying policy you mentioned does seem to perhaps give a bit of hope. It seems like a club that may try to get the best out of the players it has, or at least give them something of a chance, rather than buy a whole new squad for the Premiership.

Wood had a run with the Leicester City u21's tonight, playing 62 mins in a 1-0 loss.

Apparently Leicester are fielding the strongest possible line-ups in their u-21's currently including first team over-age players like Chris because they want to insure they finish in the top half of the Premier Reserve League they play in - it's being split into two tiers next season and they of course want to play in the top tier. They're mid-table so not certain to make the top half.

He's easily championship quality - but should be pushing for PL

Back on the park !

Got a few minutes off the bench, in a comeback 2 all draw, puts them 11 points in front at present

Just watched the replay of Leicester v Watford on Sommet Sport.

Chris on as 83 min. sub (plus 5 minutes extra time) in one of the best last half hours you could see all season.

With Leicester 2-1 down from the first half, Pearson threw on Phillips and Wood (replaced the Polish centre-back) late in the game so they were playing with four up front in the last ten minutes.

Wood had a couple of touches. 70 % of possession overall to Leicester.

Drinkwater equalized with a 25 yard screamer in the fourth minute of injury time.

Pearson of course had his tactics wrong - should have had Wood on from the beginning simply positioned right in front of Watford goalie Almunia so the ball would rebound off him as it did in the away win v Watford in October. Would have scored a hat-trick that way...

From Soccernet:

In the 71st minute Vardy was replaced by Wood and left the field to a standing ovation.

Good work by Wood almost brought a third goal with Schlupp bringing Gerken to a good save with a fierce shot at the near post.

But with two minutes to go, Wood seized on a pass from James to drill a shot into the net for City's third goal to clinch their 12th home win of the season.

Woodseys doing alright

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Got to four or five of their games last year, thought Vardy was utter shite. This season is a completely different kettle, Vardy and Nuge have really struck it off.

Woodzie is definitely in the mix, the team has just been playing so well without him. He brings a different style of play to Vardy, no reason to think him won't be there should/when they make the top tier.

On the bench again tonight, Leicester currently up 2-0.

Ends 3-0, Wood had a good header saved but other than that nothing much went his way.

Didn't happen to catch the TAB match 1:30 Monday morning by any chance RR? When you've got a moment, I might tell you what happened. :)

Too early for that kind of talk (even though signs are good).  The only place we count chickens is at Ewood!

Anyway all off topic .. Well done Mr Wood.

Chris saved Leicester this morning from defeat at Yeovil - header in the last minute of regulation time....Leicester keeper came up for a corner, hit the bar with his own header and Chris latched onto the rebound. He came on for Vardy, maybe this is the turning point he has been waiting for.

He got a goal of the bench in his last game as well.

Hopefully he gets a little more action and can become the number 1 / 2 striker at the club again just prior to them gaining  Promotion.

Sounds like they awarded the goal to Schmeichel

Looks like Casper's header went over the line before bouncing out to CW.

Sky Sports News saying that the football league have confirmed the goal will be allocated to Wood.

Yep, apparently since the lino didn't signal a goal after Schmeichel's header, the goal remains awarded to Wood.

I'd be gutted if I was Kasper.

Terrific goal. That's the kind of form he had when the club bought him. A TV commentator at the time referred to him as a 'goal machine'.
