Maybe Pearson is juggling the squad around with another league game vs. Liverpool on Tuesday night (Weds. am NZT).

Chris photographed training for that one yesterday on the club website:

"Defender Zoumana Bakayogo (knee) and midfielder Dean Hammond (calf) remain Leicester’s only injury concerns as manager Nigel Pearson’s squad edges closer to being fully fit."

though to be fair he was unlikely to come on once they went down to 10 men.

It would just be nice for him to start a game when they are in such bad form and strikers are struggling to score goals. Easier said than done, but with Chris being the youngest striker in the team (correct me if I'm wrong) Pearson should be like, mate get out there, run your arse off, get involved, be physical, be a nuisance and get on the end of something. Not just for token 10 minutes when defenders are a little smarter to give away a one goal lead. Chris has created himself a couple of chances without taking them in these short spells he has had.

The coach surely has to be trying something different and if anything hopefully would give a kick up the bum to the likes of Nugent and Ulloa. But hey I'm not a premier league coach

It did look like he was about to come on against Liverpool but they went a man down instead.sigh!

hopefully he can get a run over the busy Christmas period, score a couple of crucial goals, and keep his place in the side. Agree the manager has to try something.

he was stripped and ready to come on when it was 2-1 (and they were down to 10 men) but then Liverpool scored to make it 3-1 and it got canned. Pretty unlucky for him.

bugger. Still good signs that he's still in the managers mind, despite his missing that chance a few weeks ago. Lots of fixtures around the holiday period, so lots of chances to get minutes and do something.

He's been a very good striker for two different clubs in the Championship at a young age, hugely influential in promotion twice, so should be worth a crack. Not luclike k he's just a young guy come through ok in the reserves. Different story in top league of course, but if he gets a chance he could certainly do well.

Still think that Championship is his level, really. He's not got the all-round skills to be a starting prem striker - still, it's a good experience for him being there, just can't sit on the bench for too much longer.

There is some merit to this. I guess at 22, he probably has another 2 years of 'developing' available to him until you can no longer put him in the 'developing' category. By the same token, he can't develop on the bench. I guess as Leicester find themselves further in the toilet and chances be made available to him, he needs to show what he has got cause otherwise back to the championship he will find himself.

Its the old argument about being a bench warmer at a high level or a player at a lower level.

Wood getting mainly 3's and 4's on the Leicester City forums for his efforts today. When you are not getting a lot of chances you have got to take them.

That Leicester Forum is incredibly negative. They are a very grumpy lot. I still think compared to the other strikers Wood has had few opportunities. Yes he had one bad miss. But he's looked busy and creative In his brief cameos.

Wood not in the squad today against Man City. Anyone know why?

Again, not in the squad for the West Ham loss. He's either injured or out of favour.

He might be injured, but Leicester have been looking for a striker to bring in the January window (already made an offer for Andrej Kramaric from Rijeka that was rejected) so doesn't look like they see him as a viable solution.

Think it was a good decision to try his luck trying to get into the team until January (and have some fun as an EPL footballer along the way). In January he can reassess his options and maybe make a move.

It seems the boss doesn't rate  him. He's hardly been given a chance. Leceister are heading back to Chanpionship. Hopefully Chris can get some offers in January. Regular Championship play must be better than this.

I wonder if he has much of a future in Leicester anyway? I know everything worked out for Reid but it seems like Wood isn't really trusted in the club.

This.

What has he lost other than game time in a Championship side? He has taken the challenge on. Its not worked out the best for him but he has given himself exposure to all clubs that may look at him. For a Championship side, he can now say he has some (limited) EPL experience.

At least he has tried and in January, he can look at the loan which would probably now be a good idea. He is still signed at Leicester and if they come down again, he still has a spot with them and probably playing time.

I think he has played this well. It's not worked to his liking but he has backed himself and I respect that.

If he does go out on loan he can at least say to himself that he knows the standard he has to work to and try harder or say to himself that he is a Championship striker and carve out his niche there. I think either way, at 22, he is not washed up and can still wear the 'project' tag for the EPL level if teams view he is worth a chance as a project.

yeah, I don't think anybody else would have been so quick to give up on their EPL dream if they were in the same position.

Now he has lived it for half a season, scored in the EPL and probably had a blast despite it not quite working out the way he would have wanted. Now he can assess his options and either stick at it with Leicester or make a move and try again with another club. He's still young enough.

What are his realistic options? a transfer would only be to a Championship side, given that he is proven at that level. A betting man would probably say that Leicester will go back down and if he is reasonably happy at the club, he could stay with them.

yeah though once you're out of favour at a club it isn't really a sign that you should stick around (even if he may get game time next year).

He may be better off going to a club that is looking to get promotion this season and establishing himself that way.
