they are no worries, great keeper, really good  defence, hard working mids, good manager,  and they also have three reasonable strikers along with woody. An aging squad admittedly and if they don’t start replenishing their squad in a couple of years will vein trouble but fine for this year

They're in a way what stoke used to be - defensively sound, score a lot of headers and are generally just an all round horrible team to play against. That may have diminished somewhat with all the injuries, but i think itll be any of WBA/Fulham/West Ham/Southampton going down

Some better news coming out of Burnley in regards to their transfer saga.. Dale Stephens signed from Brighton (don't know much about him, but Burnley needed some more options in CM/CDM position).

The big one is Harry Wilson, young winger from Liverpool. Apparently in talks for a 15m transfer. I don't know much about him, anyone seen him play? Can only be good for Wood though, to get some additional strength in the midfield/wing.

Harry Wilson was pretty good for Bournemouth last year from what I saw, but a Cherries fan would probably be able to tell you more.

Burnley with 7 first team regulars out. They need some of them back soon.

Dyche didn't make one sub, with four EPL debutants on the bench.

Subbed on at HT in a 3-0 loss to Man City in the League Cup.

Score 1-0 at HT.

Probably a good thing to be out of that comp, given thin squad they have at the moment.

Reunited at last with his old mate Barnes, as both start at Newcastle.

Barnes started against Man City midweek, which was he first time back with Clarets since January.

Burnley with a few other returnees from sick bay as well.

Full game, as Newcastle prevail 3-1.

Dyche only made the 2 subs. Barnes came off at 77 mins. Westwood with the goal for Burnley.

3 EPL games and no points for the Clarets.

Next up a trip to West Brom, post the international window. They will badly want something from that, otherwise will be looking grim. Host Spurs & Chelsea after that.

Though slow starts are a Burnley thing the last few seasons. No doubt really missing skipper Ben Mee, who seems to be the heartbeat of their side somewhat.

Full game in a 0-0 draw at West Brom. Clarets first point of the season.

Barnes also started up front, and replaced at 77 mins by Rodriguez. Woodsman with 2nd half header onto cross bar when he really should have scored.

https://hofoot.koravidup.com/player/html/m4Vn0S0t5...

Burnley with a few still out, including skipper Mee.

They lie 18th.

Bit of an ugly run ahead which includes Chelsea (H), Spurs (H) and Man City (A) amongst their next 5 games.

Full game Wood. Dyche with just one sub.

Burnley 3rd last, with just one 1 point from 5 games. Good news is they have been in this position before, plus they have plenty of company at the foot of the table, with Fulham, Sheffield United, & WBA similarly struggling.

But news is Chelsea next.

They have had a successful formula for a number of years now, over achieving in the EPL, that Dyche has lead. You don't suddenly throw that out. They have started slowly before, if maybe not this bad. Almost getting back to full strength now. Return of Mee is big for them. and expect their defence to tighten up. They now need goals from Barnes & Wood.

Next 4-6 weeks will be crucial starting this week against Palace. I think if there were no signs of improvement by Christmas, and they were still in the bottom 3, then yes Dyche will be in trouble.

Agreed and he's also already been through a relegation (and promptly brought them back up again) so it's unlikely he'd be sacked - more likely he'll quit.

Has never got much change out of City. But playing against Everton should bring back some fond memories - scored his first ever PL goal against the Toffees way back when he came on for Leicester City on opening day of the 14/15 season.

Subbed at 67 mins in a 5-0 thrashing from Man City (8th).

Score 4-0 when he came off.

Dyche had J-Rod and Barnes both starting (as wingers) with Wood up front. Worth a crack I guess, as from memory Burnley's (18th) record against Citizens has been terrible prior. But obviously didn't work.

From this week's Flying Kiwis.

"A draw against Everton. Not bad. Not bad at all given these two teams started this season in entirely contrasting fashions. Burnley took the lead early on as Robbie Brady let loose in the second minute of the game and dispatched his shot into the bottom corner. Only Burnley’s fifth goal of the season.

Nick Pope then made a brilliant stop to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin followed by a more routine save off Richarlison but there was no stopping those two in the final moments of the first half as Richarlison squared to DCL and the in-form English forward slid in to poke it over the line. Pope was good enough to get a hand to James Rodriguez’s second half attempt and again off Gylfi Sugurdsson right at the end of the game. Burnley doing pretty well to hold on for a point there, slowly turning things around.

But there were two golden chances for Chris Wood within it all that could have made the difference. The first was while it was still 1-0 and he was played in behind by Dwight McNeil, a clever run on the angle, but Jordan Pickford rushed out on him and Wood couldn’t squeeze the ball past him. Then there was a second half header from a corner which he did well to power into the ground but Pickford made a good diving stop with two hands. Neither were horrible misses or anything but as Jay Rodriguez was subbed off for Ashley Barnes there was some talk that Woodsy shoulda been hooked instead. Enough that the gaffer was asked about Wood not taking his chances afterwards... a look at the Premier League’s ‘Big Chances Missed’ stat has Wood second equal with Ollie McBurnie on 7 misses, behind only Patrick Bamford with 9 (and Bamford has 8 goals compared to Wood’s 2).

Sean Dyche: “I ask for my forwards to be in a position to score goals, scoring goals is the hardest job in the game for them. As long as they are getting in positions and the areas, and are producing the performances that allow them the chance to score, or assist others, then that is how I judge their performances. Goals will come for strikers here as long as we keep putting them in the right areas and give them chances. I thought we did today, there were a number of chances that just needed that final touch or moment of quality. I thought we asked a lot of questions in different ways and I was pleased with the attacking side of it.”

Huge result for Burnley with a 1-0 win at 10 man Arsenal.

Xhaka sent off at 58 mins. Straight red. Throat grab

Aubameyang with an oggie at 73 mins. Wood had been subbed off just prior at 70 mins for Vydra. J-Rod subbed off earlier for Barnes.

Woodsman off target in first half with an open header in the London rain.

Win takes Burnley ahead of Fulham into 17th spot. They have a game in hand on the Cottagers as well.

Next up for the Clarets is a trip to Villa Park.

Full game and the winning 2nd goal as Burnley beat Wolves 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Barnes with the other, both very Burley type strikes.

Clarets up to 16th, plus have a game in hand on all the teams below them. A run of wet weather like today through the winter months, probably won't do their chances any harm given the way they play.

Next a post Xmas trip to Leeds.

I'm guessing you don't watch the games, and have no idea about the situation at Burnley right now.

A lot of people give Burnley shark about playing supposedly boring football, but in the second half last night they were great to watch, dominating a normally free-scoring Leeds and doing everything but scoring themselves. All the more impressive given their squad is basically running on fumes. Dyche is the real deal, what he's done with the resources he has is nothing short of exceptional, despite Burnley's table position. Last night he had to start with a 32 year old left back and a 21 year old DM who had only played 97 minutes of top level football as his wide players due to injuries and lack of squad depth. The tactical switch to a sort-of midfield diamond using the fullbacks for width in the second half, completely out-coached Biesla who is thought of as the second coming of Christ by some (notably Leeds supporters).

I do watch games, possibly more than most, its a results game, and if Dyche does't get results hes gone regardless how much he has to work with.Forget loyalty to Chris Wood he will soon move on. Burnley are dead set boring playing desperate football the owners won't put up with it to much longer.

OK firstly, 'the owners won't put up with it much longer' is ridiculous considering Mike Garlick seems to have no interest in investing enough money to remain in the EPL and is currently trying to sell his stake in the club.

Also, you do realise that Burnley have already been relegated with Dyche in charge and he didnt lose his job? The current owners are never going to sack Dyche, its far more likely he'll quit given the lack of backing from the current owners. If the takeover doesn't materialise and he doesn't get the money to make squad reinforcements in the summer, it's most likely he'll be gone but it won't be because he was sacked.

Due to the continued coding problems, a written 'This'.

Dyche has done a great job with Burnley in the EPL. It ain't pretty but it's effective.

They appear to be improving after their horrid season start. Too good for Sheffield, and a draw min verus Fulham.

This game especially.

Omg- the ref was atrocious in the key moments.

The pen looked to me like a foul by Bamford going studs into Nick Pope, and then the worst bit of keeper protection to prevent a great goal by Barnes. Dyche nothing short of a miracle worker to be keeping them in this.
