His football career is likely over. That includes a good chance that he could have gone to a World Cup. He and his family have been very publicly shamed. He now works packing shelves.

The sentence needs to be tough enough that's it's seen as a major deterrent to this insidious blight on the game, happening from other players. But that's more an issue for Football Australia/FIFA than the legal system per se.

Has recently been some semi pro guys caught doing similar in the QLD NPL??

So yes it could be a lifetime playing & coaching ban? That's massive when you love the game of football, and it basically defines who you are.
