Kolding (2nd, 60 pts) travel to Aarhus Fremad (4th, 57 pts). Big game with  4 teams still in the promotion hunt. 3 rounds left still.

Ole mates Wilkins, McCowatt & Just could all be reunited in the Danish 2nd tier next season. This time at 3 different clubs.

Wilkins starting.

Edit - Kolding lead 3-0 at 50 mins. They will go top with a win.
Finishes a 3-1 win. Great result for Kolding and knocks Aarhus Fremad out of the promotion race.

Now a 3 horse affair. 3 teams separated by 1 pt.
Kolding (63 pts), Esbjerg & B 93 (both 62 pts). Two rounds left, top two teams go up.

Esbjerg host B 93 next weekend. If there is a non draw result in that game & Kolding win their game and go to 66 pts, one of Esbjerg or B 93 won't be able to catch them. ie Kolding will be promoted.

Kolding also have a better GD (+34) than the other 2 teams (+27 & +24) so are in the box seat now.

Kolding (1st) with a 3-1 win at AB Copenhagen (5th). Wilkins with the start.

Kolding go to 66 pts, with 1 round left. With top 2 teams to go up to Danish 2nd tier.

Esbjerg (2nd) host 3rd placed B 93 (both 62 pts), later tonight. If there is a non draw result in that game, one of Esbjerg or B 93 won't be able to catch Kolding. ie Kolding will be promoted.

Final game of the season & promoted Kolding (1st, 66 pts) host Esbjerg (3rd, 62 pts).

Esbjerg need to win and hope B93 (2nd, 65 pts) lose, plus get a 1 goal GD swing to become the 2nd promoted team.

Second time he's won the Danish 2. Division as well after winning it back in 2020 with Helsingør.

Finishes the season (across all competitions) with;
26 appearances
1 goal
7 assists
Although I do note that transfermarkt do give assists for winning penalties as well, so take that how you will. For what it's worth though, he's got a rocket of a long throw on him - Registered a couple of those assists straight from the throw this season, so adds a different string to the bow for attacking play in that regard.

Hopefully we continue to see him get game time next season.

Now that he is in the same division as McCowatt & Just, does that put him in the frame for the All Whites? (RM/RB & LM/LB) 👀

His ability to cover multiple positions could be very handy for the national team setup, and yes I would love to have some more options at RB for the AW's given Payne has been ordinary at best for a while now.

He's predominantly a LB though and seems to have played more in the midfield (LM & RM) this season for Kolding, especially as the season wore on.

He's got another year on his Kolding deal so maybe we wait and see how he goes in a promoted side. If he's still getting good minutes and his side isn't struggling too much I'd be happy to see him in the national team setup once more, if only purely because McCowatt (who has come on leaps & bounds) and Just will be plying their trade in the same division next season.

More pre season action for Dalton Wilkins as his Kolding IF side ramp up for another season in Denmark. A goal and an attempt off the crossbar so far today.

Seems more and more like the seasons just blur together, year after year. I know they come around quick, but it feels like football season ended just yesterday in Europe...

Anyway, hopefully a sign that Dalton will again be a prominent figure for Kolding in their new campaign. We already know Danish Superliga clubs aren't afraid to look for talent in the lower tiers of the game over there, so hopefully a cracking season might garner some interest from the higher ups!

Looks like he assisted from a throw in too as Kolding completed a 3-1 win. Logged 65 minutes before being replaced.

As I stated in an earlier post, he's got a wicked long throw, which could prove a real attacking asset going forward (as it seems he only really developed this in his game last season).

Footage from last season btw.

Anyway, something for Elijah Just and his Horsens teammates to ponder for next week when the 2023/24 league season in Denmark kicks off.

Very keen to see how he goes at this level. Obviously he's had a little taste previously with Helsingør a couple of years back before injury cut short that footballing journey.

Does a good season put him in AW's contention?

Behind Libby, is a congested queue of Francis de Vries (a favourite of the AWs coaching staff?), Wynne, Mcgarry, Sutton & Wilkins.

Wilkins got a call up for the OFC qualifying tourney March 2022, when Hay was forced to select a large 30+ squad.

But really all those behind Cacace, won't get much AWs playing time this cycle. Libby is such a huge part of the AWs now. He's started the last 7 games the AWs have played. You have to go back to the Oman closed doors game, since he didn't run on as the AWs LB.

Though yes if he does become the regular starting LB for Empoli this Serie A season, his club may demand that Bazeley play him just once rather than twice every FIFA window.

Lined up at RM (But more than likely a RWB role) in his side's 2-1 victory over Elijah Just and his AC Horsens outfit overnight.

69 minutes for Wilkins and 62 minutes for Just.

Good to see the new boys get up with a win, but lots of work to do for Horsens who I would've thought to be firm favourites, along with Alborg BK to go straight back up after their relegations last season.

Wilkins (RWB) starting. Kolding trail 0-1 approaching HT.

Interesting that this season Wilkins is playing on the right rather than the left. If he goes okay, that side of the pitch maybe his best route, to cracking regular AWs squads.

Edit - and scores. A pen. Unusual for a wingback to be entrusted from the spot. Kolding now lead 2-1.

Transfermarkt doesn't really take into account the WB position - More often than not it will tend to list as LM or RM if a player has played in that WB role.

He does tend to play quite high up the pitch though, but without seeing much footage so far, it's hard to tell his role exactly. Will see if I can find out.

Just a quick follow up - Suspicions confirmed, and he is playing the RWB role, and has been since their promotion push last campaign. Sounds like a tactical move (Inverted FB role) and allows him to cut in on his stronger left foot.

With his output over the backend of last season and a good start to this campaign, it could well provide some solid competition at RB for the AW's given we've tried Ingham/Tuiloma/Payne/Elliot in that position over the last several matches.

As it stands Ingham is serviceable but should not be a go to/nailed on starter. Tuiloma isn't a RB/RWB, Payne has been off the boil for a while now both at club and international level and Elliot is currently a member of Unattached FC.

Whoops forgot about them! 😬
Just going off top of my head of course, obviously Kirwan had been out for a while with a serious injury, and Storm Roux, well he was just plain unlucky not to make the last squad.

No one's really nailed that RB spot though was my point.

Also a string to add to the bow for Wilkins - Plays LB/LWB/RB/RWB and he becomes far more valuable in terms of utility in my book. Hopefully he continues his decent start to the season over in Denmark. 🤞

No Dalton Wilkins in the Matchday squad, but a nice bit of history for Kolding - The biggest ever win in the DBU Pokalen (19-1).

The record was held (for all of an hour) by last weekend's opponents B.93, who won 16-0 this morning as well.

Funny old game ain't it?

Yes the biggest win ever in the history of the Danish Cup. Wilkins wasn't in the match day squad, with a bunch of young kids playing for Kolding.

Poor old Avrasya actually scored first, and held that 1-0 lead until 19th min. Looks like they are a club of immigrants (maybe refugees?) to Denmark as a guess.

Back in the starting XI for the visit to face Næstved, and scores his second of the season in the first 30 seconds of play.

Næstved down to 10 after a red card late in the first half as well. So all said and done things going pretty well so far for Dalton and his Kolding side so far this season.

Kolding almost blow the win. Up 1-0 until 94th mins against 10 man
Næstved
. Concede but then grab a 2nd goal at 95 mins for a 2-1 win.

Wilkins off at 63 mins (1-0). He and his team mates having a good season to date 3W & 1D. If he converted his pen last week (1-1 draw) Kolding could be sitting at 4 & zero. Promotion to Superliga probably a step too far for a small club like Kolding, but encouraging start to the season, and Wilkins could be right in the frame for a AWs recall in October.
