Dan Keat (Unattached FC)
After being drafted third overall in the 2011 Supplemental Draft by Los Angeles, Daniel Keat (Dartmouth) has overcome a fractured heel sustained in preseason to make his Galaxy debut. He made his first senior team appearance in a World Football Challenge friendly and has since appeared in three MLS matches, recording two shots in 15 minutes of action. Keats Galaxy, which recently acquired former English Premier League star Robbie Keane, lead the Western Conference with a 14-3-9 record.

MLS announced the date for it's 2012 MLS Expansion Draft today; it will be held November 23, 2011. This is a 10 round draft where the Montreal Impact will chose 10 players from a pool of current MLS players. MLS clubs are allowed to protect eleven players from their roster, as well as any Generation Adidas or HomeGrown players on the off-budget roster.
The only HomeGrown player the Galaxy have is Jack McBean. Brian Perk was never Generation Adidas, though it's occasionally reported that he was. The rest of the supplemental roster will be made available so that means:
Brian Perk, Sean Alvarado, Paolo Cardozo, Hector Jimenez, Bryan Jordan, Daniel Keat, Dustin McCarty, Dasan Robinson and Ryan Thomas will all be available in the draft.

Where the Galaxy could also find talent is the Supplemental Draft. Three of LAs four Supplemental Draft picks from 2011 made the team as Dan Keat, Ryan Thomas and Dustin McCarty were around for the ride through the club's MLS and Champions League success. Keat played in five regular-season games, while Thomas appeared in one.
Still, Arena said he wasn't thinking too far down the road.
You cant outthink yourself," he said. "The first thing you do is see how the first two rounds play out, and then you have a week to get ready for the next four rounds. Were obviously thinking of both, but I think we have to take it one step at a time. We want to try and get two good picks out of this draft and then focus on the following week.
The skilled midfielder from Palos Verdes Estates (Penisula HS) trained with the Galaxy during his time at UCLA. He made 36 league appearances in two years with the Union, starting 22 games.
I think he's a good young player, Arena said. I've followed him closely for years, obviously at UCLA and with Philadelphia. He's a player we've always wanted to have here at the Galaxy, and I think it's great to have one of our local players come back as well.
Nakazawa adds to the depth in midfield, joining Marcelo Sarvas, Michael Stephens and Dan Keat as players who can slot next to Beckham -- or into his place. With Sarvas ineligible for the Galaxy's knockout-stage games in the CONCACAF Champions League, Arena needs multiple options in the middle

Why sign boyens for him to miss out on an international spot?

Dan Keat 5
Of the three subs by Bruce Arena, Keat impressed the most. The more time this New Zealander gets, the better his confidence coming into matches later this year will be. This is a kid with a huge upside, and Dan Keat's role with LA will only get bigger.
