Does anyone think this a move in preparation for Port Vale heading down to League Two next season?

A bit of an odd transfer, and a hell of a long way around the other side of the world if he's in consideration for an inaugural Auckland FC season (which I don't think he is anyway).

You are probably right. Read somewhere he had spent some time recently in Auckland since leaving the US. Presumably Corica has had a look at him, and spoken to Bazeley. Sounds like Corica & McFlynn have been researching all potential Kiwis, especially the uncontracted ones. Now they also have Hay to add his two cents worth.

So the fact Wynne is now in the UK, (several months after say Callan Elliot got to Scotland) likely means he's not a Black Knights contender. Also Aucks FC have been rumoured to have signed Francis de Vries. Same age, same position, same ability to switch across to CB in need. Some of their rumoured signings - Woud, FDV, Howieson, Champness, Toomey etc may even be having some early trainings/fitness sessions already at Albany.

But even Port Vale's fans are saying Wynne is a bit of an odd signing. They are still a reasonable chance to avoid relegation.
