Match highlights. Surman not as prominent as the 4-1 loss to Vancouver, when Timbers were down to 10 men. Funny that.

This Austin game seemed a cagey affair. Finn getting his big frame up for attacking corners. Timbers scoring direct from a free lick with Austin's defenders pre occupied guarding Surman & his team mates.

Portland have a few CBs out (incl last week's red card), but Neville seems a Surman fan, so hopefully he's in for a good season Stateside.

And yeah useful for the AWs that it's likely 4 of next year's World Cup CBs - Boxall, Surman, Smith, Bindon - have all played football in the USA. 3 of them in the MLS. Tuiloma in the mix as well. Pijnaker the outlier
