With Gianni really excelling the last year or so and looking like he is on the move to Europe - could the Aussies be looking at him for their national team? From what I understand, he was never capped at age-group level for Australia (only training squads) and he could very well be on the radar for them now. Could do a reverse-Joey Champness and switch allegiance?

He played for the Ozzie U20 team with, guess who as coach?  Yes Mr Ufuk Talay, who in his westie wisdom (immigrant football community who think midfielders only come from immigrant communities) played Stensness as a CB, simply because he is big and strong.  Yes, that's the only criteria.  Keep it simple, for simple coaches.
Contrary to Phillip Rollo official lines and gossip, my sources indicate Stensness did not want the CB role with the Ozzies, and left.  No surprises Stensness didn't want to play under Talay at Nix - fully rejecting his offer, and Mariners benefited.
I'll bet the Norwegian coaches, who know more about players and football than any of us, play Stensness as a midfielder.  That's simply because they have seen him as a CM at Mariners ever since he turned the tide for an historic win against their under 20 team, whilst rendering the not insignificant Erling Haaland to a sideline role.
But Hay, like Talay, sees only a big, strong defender.  I doubt Stensness will play under Hay again.  If that's the case, it will be NZ's loss.
