Would be a great option, especially if guys like Thomas, Rojas and Cameron are routinely sidelined by injury/schedules

if we already cap players like Raniga, Dyer, Brotherton, why not? at least he's playing for a profesional side

It would be interesting to know which players offshore that NZF knows about (but haven't been selected yet)

After a few slow days at work, I've found this guy, some young players in the Aussie NPL, a young dude in England, and a lady in England (as seen in other threads)

Are these players already on the radar? (therefore a bit of a waste of my/other peoples time) Does anyone from NZF look at these and think "hmm, good lead - we'll check him out"......or is this forum completely ignored as deranged rantings?

Maybe if NZF produced a full list of players they know about (like the pinboard thing that was on the NZF walls during an interview with Anfony 'Udson), then the fans can add to it? Surely we can be an asset, if utilised correctly?

Good stuff Yellowsite - it would still be worth knowing if NZF know/knew about these players

Rusty D - you could try an email (Monday to Friday only!) to a NZF staffer. I once emailed International Teams Manager – Rob Pickstock,

and he very politely replied. Was quite chuffed. I suggested that NZF try and organise some type of friendly for NZ 'A' type team vs any of the Asian sides with Asian Cup held in Aussie last year. Just to give Hudson a chance to coach a team. Remembering that the A League had a break whilst Asian Cup was on. Apparently was just too hard to organise, with window between A League stopping and Cup actually starting being short. Auckland City & Team Wellington played friendlies pre tourney against Japan & South Korea? from memory.

Anyway here's the NZF contact email list (hover above the contact name). Good luck

Jai Ingham is quality. I'd definitely get him in the All Whites. But wouldn't it be even better if guys like him committed to Samoa

Yeah, like Tim Cahill did. Ah, wait..

Does OFC Nations Cup count for eligibility? Seem to recall someone changing nations after playing in the African Cup of Nations

People occasionally change nationalities after playing many sorts of matches (see Diego Costa) in theory a senior cap should determine your eligibility so you'd imagine he'll be tied to Samoa for life. But He fits the Hudson mould (picking only young players) and has shown promise with MV and for Hume City in ffa cup, and no one wants to be stuck with Samoa. Not even Samoans.

Tim Cahill, Australia's favourite Samoan since [insert topical joke here].

Nations cup ties him to Samoa. Assuming he plays. Which I'm sure he will

So all in all a terrible decision

Do you think he'll play or feign injury to keep NZ open as an option?

Why? Maybe he feels a stronger allegiance to Samoa

Didn't stop Tommy Smith.

He could play for Socceroos you never know. Why limit yourself to one tournament every 4 years.

because, I don't know, perhaps he wants to represent Samoa?

Ingham moved to Brisbane to play when he was 16. His mum is born in New Zealand but has Samoan background and he is looking to emulate cousin Jonny Hall and one day represent the island nation.

I guess this is just out of the norm. Usually dont see players picking smaller nations to represent.

Good on him - it's good for Samoa, and good for the tournament too.

Samoa also have Andrew Mobberly from Southern United, and some guy from Central......and probably Clendon Uniteds first ever international.....and if you know Clendon, you'll know it's pretty rough....

If Hayne makes Fiji sevens team, he goes to Rio and agruably biggest sports show on earth. Then he switches back into his next venture.

Ingham chooses Samoa, and he gets to play in Port Moresby, Honiara, Nukuʻalofa every couple of years.

Actually sounds like he made an impact late when coming on as a sub, with Victory's loss in Korea

Fiji may be smaller in terms of population, but in terms of sevens they're the best team at the moment; so he isn't picking a "smaller nation" as much as he's picking the better nation. In other words, he's just joining the bandwagon for an easy gold medal. Nothing more to it.

Mobberly did not really play for Southern, he is at Bays for Winter and I would say he is very average

Well, he's now an average player who is an international playing at a confederation championship. So life probably isn't too bad for him at the minute

If Jai Ingham chose to play for Samoa, shouldn't this thread be locked since he isn't a Kiwi?

He's probably stoked watching the Tahiti vs Samoa game at home right now considering Samoa are unsurprisingly getting destroyed.

He'd shine in that Samoa team, though. Kinda like Roy Krishna for Fiji.
