Timbers lost Ricketts, so hopefully that moves him up the pecking order at the Timbers.

Sky Bet have seen a run of bets on Sacramento Republic FChead coach Predrag Radosavljevic becoming the next Leicester City manager, prompting his odds to move from 33/1 to 10/11.

The Yugoslavian signed for Everton in 1992 and has been coaching in the USA since 2007.

If this happens does it open the door for Jake to move? Rated there, they've taken him on loan twice.

Predrag this morning went from 33/1 to 10/11 with UK bookies - all over Twitter in the States with Alexi Lalas, Taylor Twellman etc saying it's happening

Disappointing he didn't feature last weekend against Philadelphia (was on that Bench), but damn Andrew Weber put in some fantastic shot stops and saves. Still lost 3-0, waaaaaaahhh

He definitely has talented keepers around him, will need a series of unfortunate events to be starting fires team instead of Kwarasey and Weber it seems.

But he's looked solid for T2 in the few matches I saw him in earlier this season. (free streaming on youtube)

Been on the bench last 10 games in a row looks to have gone up to number 2 in the pecking order. Will do him some good I think to train with the first team fitness wise gk's aren't impacted as much as other players imo.

Final score: 0-0. Good result for the Timbers after 120min a few days ago. Jake was a spectator for the whole game; the defence kept Vancouver quiet, while Ousted made a fine save or two on the other end. Kwarasey was out with a flu I believe, hopefully he recovers before the return leg.

Would displace moss if he came to the Nix Imo. But I think he can start in the Mls with the right team.

because there is also a good keeper in Germany who has played well for the all whites recently

Last time I saw Gleeson he couldn't kick the ball over half way so he has a few things he needs to work on

We actually have a number of decent keepers coming through in the U.S., UK & Germany.  By our standards we are spoiled for choice with pro keepers at the moment.

Spoilt for choice in pro keepers, nothing much up front. Just Wood at the moment.

But its good, when Herbert was in charge, all we had was Paston, Moss and Bannatyne before 2010....I think?

After world cup 2011-13 era, we had Moss, Williams and Spoonley. With Williams being old, and Moss the only professional. Gleeson was there sometimes...but Herbert seemed to prefer Williams or Spoonley, (Correct me if I am wrong) unless Gleeson was always out because of injury.

Hudson now has a choice between, Moss, Gleeson, Crocombe, Marinovic, possibly Sail, Tzanev, and maybe Woud? if he continues a career at Sunderland. I also heard another keeper was at QPR, Conor Tracey, but thats besides the point. All those keepers are at professional standards.

Anyway,

Good to see Gleeson is doing well.

Following on from Jake's full game in the first leg of the Western Conference semi-final vs. Vancouver (0-0 draw) to replace regular keeper Kwarasey who was sick, Kwarasy returned for the second leg on Monday am NZT and Portland won 2-0 way.

Jake was on the bench for the second leg:

I think is time for him to find a club where he plays regularly. There must be an MLS club looking for a decent and young(ish) keeper. It seems that he won't ever find that much game time in Portland.

Probably true because the Portland number one is only 27 and pretty reliable.

Kwarasey is a Norwegian-born Ghanaian and was number one at his top Norwegian club Stromgodset for five years before signing for Portland. They won the Norwegian title in 2013.

However if he makes too many howlers like he did when he gave up the goal in the MLS Final, then Jake might get a look in.

Nice to see the easily identifiable big ginger bloke, former All White Gavin Wilkinson, general manager at the Timbers, being the first recipient of coach Caleb Porter's ecstatic hug after the final whistle.

From Waitakere in the NZ national league, to Perth Glory in the Aussie national league and then across the Pacific to Portland first as a player and then manager - then winning Major League Soccer as Portland's chief administrator who employed the coach and players.

Two Kiwis on the bench too with assistant manager to Caleb Porter in Cameron Knowles, former NZ age group rep. as well as reserve goalie Jake Gleeson.

Waikato product too (I think).  Would be interested to know how both Gavin and Cameron rate as coaches/mangers compared to the elite here.

Subbed on at the 50 min mark for Portland v Colvey's San Jose. Presume starting keeper injured.

2 Kiwis ever gplayed in the same MLS game?  Nelsen/Elliott?

A news report says that the Timbers' first choice will be out for a month, so that would be until about May 18:

http://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/index.ssf/2016/0...

Hudson would have to keep in touch with the Timbers over his availability for the training camp but if the first choice keeper came back on schedule, even the training camp would be viable for Gleeson.

But then again, if Hudson wants him, the Timbers may not release him until they are required to just before the OFC tournament.

We have plenty of options for a reserve keeper. Better to let him stay and play first team football than sit on the bench in PNG

Marinovic has been playing because Hudson wants every member of the squad to get gametime. I don't think there's any doubt Moss is AW #1
