An interview with Smith who just arrived to sweden
How would you describe yourself as a player?
- He likes to score goals and play to the goal. Will that help the team as best I can on the way to the Championship.
Do you have a nickname that we may be able to use again?
- Haha, yes there are a couple. At home I called the "Smithy" and "Kiwis", he laughs.
Jarrod Smith: "Europe is a good shop window"

He was pretty tired after the long trip from New Zealand.
- The body feels that there is 12 hour time difference. But I am happy that finally I'm here, "he says.
Jarrod came in contact with Ljungskile thanks to goalie Nick Noble, which besides, is an old friend of his.
- We played together when we went to West Virginia University together.

How long were you in the U.S.?
- I have spent seven years in North America. Games last in Seattle in Major League Soccer.
Together with Fredrik Ljungberg?
- Yes, that's right. We were both injured part while in Seattle, and we rehab gym together part. Very nice man, talked a lot of football with him. He spoke very good for London.
It was Europe that attracted Jarrod to Ljungskile beyond buddy Nick Noble of course. But he has a history with Sweden, when he was five years ago auditioned with GIF Sundsvall - without any result.
- I was a lot younger then and has played in MLS since then and a lot more experience now that I can carry with me.
Smith suffered a severe groin injury for a few years ago that was difficult healed. It took so long to become whole so that Seattle tripped him from his contract. Thus, he moved back to New Zealand where he has played with the Hawkes Bay last year.
- We were about to go to the playoffs but was careless in the last seriematchen.
He has besides 15 international matches with New Zealand and participated in the Confederations Cup in 2009 (for the World Cup) and the World Cup qualifiers. He was injured last summer and was therefore not included in the World Cup in South Africa.

Actually i watched smith playing many games in the MLS when he was at toronto fc and at that time he looked pretty good. But he has been injured very often in his career and that may have stopped his progression...

Is he still on contract with ljungskile for next season?
If successful Hogg would not be the only Kiwi in Sweden with All Whites squad member Craig Henderson on the books at Mjalby AIF and former international Jarrod Smith looking to revive his career with Ljungskile SK after missing all of last season with injury.
