Jeremy Brockie (Edgeworth FC | Australia)
It's a fair question, the South African league breaks for the cup of nations without South Africa even qualifying!
However the PSL (being biggest comp in Southern African) does have a lot of players from other African countries playing in the league, a fair number of whom I imagine are representing their countries at African Nations Cup.
Brockie played 90 minutes in a 1–0 semifinal win over Orlando Pirates! A chance for silverware for Brockie and Boxall! On Saturday, 10 December (Sun 11 Dec NZ) they will play the final at home vs Cape Town City FC.
Come on lads!
Ouch!
Would you say..he was a .. frustr8dstriker?
That gave me a much needed laugh. Thanks
jeremybrockie11 So after waking up Monday morning in Nelspruit with a world of pain in my elbow and swollen like a golf ball a couple of nights in hospital I transferred back to joburg and to great disappointment I had an infection in my bursa and needed an op to get it cut out. Devastated being so close to the season starting back up. In a splint for 10-14 days and then I'll be back on the pitch with the boys to try help to achieve our goals for the rest of the year! Thanks to everyone for the support. Feel for my beautiful wife but lucky I'm in good hands with her and my two little ones. #bursa #operation #frustratinginjury
Brocks is having no luck on the injury front this season, don't think he has missed this many games since he broke his leg at the Fury?
I spoke to @JRBrockie after he scored his 35th goal in SA last night…

No player has scored more since his arrival. https://t.co/Y2pc37Qb6j pic.twitter.com/1aeyTsLrSk

Jeremy Brockie bagged a hat-trick to help SuperSport United claim a 5-0 win over Barrack Young Controllers and advance to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Playing 49 games for the AW's and scoring one goal does not do it for me.

Even if I could be bothered to find out, I have watched him play almost every A League game he ever played ---- and I don't rate him.

Well Leggy's had his say, so that's the end of that.

IIRC a lot of his games for the AWs were as a winger

I recall quite a few games as a left wing back:

A damn good one tho Leggy, agreed
id rather any selections are based on current form, not past performances. He's a more experienced player now so to look at the stats are a little misleading.
If he's playing well enough against decent enough opposition then no issue in my mind.
Scored a goal & took the winning shot in the penalty shoot out this morning in the Nedbank Cup

Reminds me of that goal against the Victory in the conga game. Not quite as sweet a strike, but just as effective.
Sometimes you wonder why he isn't an AW great. He is capable of hitting the ball with amazing technique. (yeh I know, I know.)

except it's not form that's really the issue, it's his lack of off the ball work rate (I haven't watched him play in SA, maybe it's improved)
57' Brockie slices his shot on the volley from a very tight angle to grab the lead for Matsatsantsa once again #AbsaPrem

woof
He might be lazy off the ball - but he is our best finisher!

Another goal this morning, just a tap in it sounds
Brocks has to be on his way to Russia.
Rory is gone, Shane too from what we saw of his Nix performances and with Boyd clearly being left to Portugal's beaches who else is there?
Patterson isn't there yet, much like Dyer and Lewis (as AWs) and Watson did not impose himself for this Nix season as I and others thought he might.
As for the rest Kosta, Ryan and Marco are all wingers and should be in Russia although there might be question marks over Kosta still.

Unless Brockie has lifted his workrate without the ball, AH won't pick him and rightly so.
Patterson is the youngest of the group, with most upside, and scored a goal against USA (admittedly scrappy). Like Wood he has a bit of size. Hope gaffer sticks with him.
Smeltz, Patterson, Kosta, Rojas, Thomas, Rufer (though why I don't know), even Cameron and probably some of guys with the U-20s - Billingsley, Rogerson, Bevan - likely to be ahead of Brockie to join Wood in the 2 in the 3-5-3. Work. Rate. and ability to combine quickly on the deck. That's it.

If you look at names like the U20s mentioned, and a slowing Smeltz, you have to wonder why Boyd isn't in the mix.
What's Kris Bright up to?
and of course Greg Draper.

Except we don't, because it's known Boyd fell out of favour after turning down an ONC call up.
