Brockie would be on about $150,000-200,000 a year probably..

Rumour is that Toronto are on the verge of signing Uruguayan star Diego Forlan! That would be a massive signing for them

Brockie is contracted to 2015 right? If Toronto were to sign him on a transfer, the minimum fee would probably be determined by his sum of wages at the Phoenix for the next two years. Therefore, the minimum fee that the phoenix would agree on if Toronto came asking would probably be about $300,000 NZ. I can't really see Toronto offering that much for him but that's my prediction on a realistic transfer fee. I believe the Nix would let him leave for 400-500k or at least put serious consideration into it.

Uh, Forlan! That Guy played an amazing 2010 World Cup.  Toronto must have some money, they had Frings last season, he was one the highest paid players in MLS.

having money doesn't translate into winning championships - playing Forlan might help a bit though

We should negotiate a deal to get Forlan on loan in their off season. Only fair.

And everyone has a price.  Things is I doubt an MLS club is going to be willing to meet that price

Torontos  problem though seems to be closing out games and holding on to leads.

I believe the nix would let him go for 200k. I don't believe Toronto would pay that, salary cap the issue as much as anything.

Looks like Forlan is almost done and dusted. Crazy. They also off-loaded their best player in Luis Silva to DC.

Koevermans has a calf injury, Silva traded and Earnshaw back from injury. It should mean that Brockie will starting against SKC this weekend.

Brockie looks like he wants to extend his stay with Toronto.

And part of trading Silva, TFC got some 'allocation money' which can be used to pay for transfer fees

The latest Nelsen interview on the TFC website drops more hints that he really wants Brockie full time. I wouldn't be surprised if he is in a TFC shirt full time next season. It would throw a massive spanner in the works for our preparation to lose him this season.

Another interview with him on the TFC website (he does seem to be a favorite) http://www.torontofc.ca/video/2013/07/11/jeremy-brockie-july-11-2013

Great city, great facilities no doubt. Must be really enjoying it. Hope he gets to stay. I'm sure we could find a replacement easily enough. Perhaps use a foreign spot plus pick up someone like Chris Killen come Nov?

Questions over Smeltz future at the Glory, use the transfer fee to pay his marquee wages and loan back Brockie in January. Win win.

“Brocks is a lovely guy and he works his tail off,” Nelsen said. “He looks dangerous and like he is going to score in every game. He is one of those guys that fans in Wellington love and that the fans in Toronto are enjoying as well because he gives everything. Obviously, any type of player like that is one that you would like to stick around."

That's not how I recall him playing... scoring a lot of goals, yes. Working hard and giving it everything, not so much.

I think he gave more than people realised actually, wasnt as slack as some made out. I watched him in some games towards the end and his work off the ball was ok.

Knew he was gone as soon as he went on trial/loan/work-experience/whatever it was. I'm pissed right off though.

The rest of the folk patting him on the back/good for kiwi football brigade, I don't give a shit. He is/was a Nix player and it looks like we have lost him. It was the same with Lochead having a trial at Boro - Sorry but for the Nix to survive we have to keep our best players.

I don't blame him for wanting to stay in Toronto. Plus I wouldn't stop him from leaving if I were the Phoenix management... You don't want to force an ambitious and unhappy player to stay at a club it doesn't work for anybody. We would receive reasonable sized transfer fee (could possibly be around 300-400k) as Toronto would have to buy him out of his current Phoenix contract. It would probably be beneficial to the All Whites as well, having one more professional player playing overseas in a pretty decent league.  .

And another All white overseas is another All White we don't lose during international windows. Ernie wants to sign an international striker anyway and we still have Stein. I was looking forward to seeing Brockie in a Nix shirt again this season but if Toronto wants him and he wants Toronto...

hate to suggest but the plan to score more goals this season being sell the only player who scored for us last season is not the most reassuring...

good move for Brockie, but we are low on goal scorers and Siggie and Manny haven't had their shooting boots on

ahh- so Kansas firm favourites here- 3rd in Eastern conference behind Impact and Red Bulls.

Brockie hasn't touched the ball yet. Can't believe there is a club worse than Toronto. It's DC, the club Nelsen won the league with. The MLS calls their league table 'Standings'.
